Yeah...but as per right now I've got only two favorite colors. Blue Ray Metallic and White Diamond Tricoat.

And this truck is Iridium. It has to be an extraordinary offer to get me to open my wallet.

Haha for it was 28k out the door and hail damage were the reasons I bought mine. Only features I dont have are the lane assist, sunroof and navigation.

Posted this in another thread, but felt appropriate to repeat it in this one.

Well, if the 2.8L in the Colorado is anything like the 2.8L in my 2006 Jeep, I would jump on it in a heartbeat. Everything I have investigated about the 2.8L Dmax, is that it is strikingly similar to the 2.8L VM diesel in my Jeep. Makes sense, since GM used to have 50% share of VM Motori. They sold their share in 2013, but they probably had already started working on the 2.8L Dmax, so they got most of the motor design from their time owning half of VM. The only difference, other than emissions stuff, that I can see in the 2.8L Dmax compared to the 2.8L VM, is a little higher rail pressure, a different brand VG turbo, and slightly higher HP and Torque numbers. Virtually every other aspect of the motor is a carbon copy of the VM motor, from the timing belt to the cast iron block with wet cylinder sleeves. Which is a great design! It is the same wet sleeve design used by 15L commercial diesels. I think once folks really get close up looks of this motor, along with technical design information, they will be favorably impressed. The VM motor had a designed in B50 life of 300,000 miles. That means, less than 50% would need a motor overhaul before 300,000 miles. Pretty impressive.

My 2006 Jeep had no problem yanking a 300 gallon fuel wagon thru hilly, soft cropland. It even pulled out a class 6 Interstate Battery truck that had slid off the road during an ice storm. Not even the slightest hesitation. Depending on the frame design, suspension, axles, and trans, the 2.8L in the Colorado should be impressive. it has more torque than the V8's in the 1500 series, except the 6.2L.

And with diesel being about 30 cents a gallon cheaper than regular gas in my area now, someone choosing the diesel Colorado could do a lot worse getting something else. Most folks buying something like this are probably not going to be pulling anything over 6K anyway. Probably more for hauling than anything else, and only light duty towing. And of course, a daily commuter when not doing any kind of work like that. It should really shine in that commuter use. Driven properly, as a diesel should be, it should exceed even the EPA fuel economy estimates. My 2006 Jeep diesel had a EPA highway estimate of 27 mpg. There were very few times that we got less than 32 mpg on road trips.

Reasonable offer in my book especially since the 2016s are just around the corner now. Some dealerships just don't want to play ball.

It is so different in different parts of the country. My dealer, Covert GMC / Buick in Austin, sold 442 new vehicles in July, a record for them. They have been here since 1903. They won't even try to match Laura GMC's prices, especially on Denalis.

I have bought 4 new GMC's in a row from them.

Personally I don't have a dealer. If they don't want to deal I move on . When I bought a GT500 they wanted 45k in my area. Went to north Caroline bought the same car for 38k out the door. These trucks are the same way too. Especially in the south since everyone and there mother drives one. It's very hard to find a dealer that wants to deal.

GM has done a masterful job of making its trucks ever more expensive and more profitable to sell. I priced a 2016 Silverado 1500 and each time I added something like tow mirrors or a htich, I had to add a "convenience" package that added a lot of things I did not want and greatly increased the price for the truck. When I got done with my basic 1/2 ton pickup truck for towing the price was over $42,000 which is what I paid in 2011 for a 2500HD Duramax truck that was loaded (tow mirrors, tow package, entertainment package, satellite radio, chrome side steps, bed liner, tool box, rear camera, etc.). I decided to hold onto the 2500 truck for the foreseeable future.

A Colorado mid-size that tows only 7700 lbs. shows that the limitation is not with the engine but with the frame and suspension of the truck. A 1500 pickup with a gas engine can tow 12,000 lbs. so the problem is with the platform and the Duramax Jr. engine adds very little.

I would advise anyone thinking of buying a truck to get a 2015 or 2016 model as starting in 2017 the new engines will have to use a much lighter weight motor oil and no one can say what problems wiill be encountered with the new engines using the new PC-11 B motor oil. By 2019 it should be sorted out but in the interim I would not want to be a guinea pig. I expect that initially the only place to get an oil change will be at the dealer or to do the oil change yourself. There will also be new designs for the oil filters for them to work with the new oil and these will not be widely availabe either initially.

  • Offered in crew cab models only
  • LT or Z71 trim

What about the little handyman.

What is he supposed to do with a crew cab and a shorter bed? He doesn't need a LT or Z71 trim also.

I know, I know there are highly paid marketing experts telling GM how to make the most money by forcing people to buy BS they don't need or want.

I like the truck and I like the engine.

But I don't like the politics.

I still think that the price GM is asking for a Mid-size truck is outrageous. I have a friend at a GMC dealer that's the sales manager and even he said that the Canyon was over priced. I was going to buy a Z71 as a daily driver and to be used as a toad for my motorhome just couldn't see paying that much. Found a 2010 Colorado Z85 with low miles for the right price and bought it. I'm not that crazy with the style of the new trucks anyway. Traded in a 2005 Sierra for the Colorado. I miss the room but it tows great behind my Coach and I love the gas mileage. Might think about buying a Diesel Canyon in a year or 2. I never like purchasing a first year run on new engine but it's my understanding that this little diesel is produced by Fiat and has been on the road in Europe for a few years. Never been all that crazy about "Fix It Again Tony" (F I A T) automotive anyway so we'll see.
