Autolube A-2500 Partial oil filter dissection

Recommended Posts

So I got a case of these from one of my local parts suppliers on the cheap (about $2/filter), but I've been kind of sceptical about their internal construction. Tonight, I was able to partially open one up to take a peek inside.

Plain Jane el cheapo Chinese packaging

Cross reference chart. Replaced AC Delco PF63, Fram PH10575, Purolator L2500, etc.

Bottom of the filter. ADBV appears to be of urethane construction. Core is metal

Mangled case reveals metal end caps, and neatly constructed media pleats. Yay, no cardboard end caps, especially at this price point.

Tried my best to get a photo of the bypass valve

This far, this filter is looking very promising as a standard service filter. The price is hard to beat. Country of origin is unknown, but I'm guessing likely is China due to packaging materials. I currently have this filter on the truck right now, and I don't notice anything funky as far as oil pressures go.

So in conclusion, I was quite surprised at the internal construction at this low of a price point. I will continue servicing my truck with these filters until I run out (I have 9 left from a case of 12). Overall i think this filter represents a great value and would be a great compromise between price and quality in a fleet environment.

Wow... Looks a helluva lot better than the e-core BS that AC has now.

Honestly I have nothing against e-core, but the traditionalist part of me says this is better.
