CB PICS

I have a Galaxy99v which is considered to be a big radio, I also have the Silverado with the center console and cup holders, so that limits where you can install it.  I just installed it on the right side of the console.

I originally made a housing that sat on top of the tranny hump in front of the middle front seat and between the dash.  After I installed my center console I put a small cobra cb in the cd tray so when it wasn't in use I could just flip the lid shut and it was hidden.

I used to have a 99 too much hassle for me so I sold it to a trucker friend of mine shortly after I got my 959

The size of the galaxy radio makes mounting in my truck pretty tricky so I havent even tried it yet

silveradoreb ,

are you looking at getting a big cb or a cheapie 39 -70 dollar one ?

This picture shows an Icom-2720 ham rig mounted in a 2003 Silverado LT.  It's not a CB, but maybe it gives your some ideas.

The location is just below the climate control panel and above the center floor console.

The 19DXIII is what i had tucked away in the cd storage compartment.  Worked great and a completely hidden install.  If you've got the full center console I say stick it in there.  You do have to modify the console a bit (drill a hole for the wires to come out.  But, then run your wire under your dash and the plastic door sill protectors pop off and your can run the wire down the channel in there to the back.

Here was my original mounting location for the DXIII but I didn't like it that much:

Then here it is in the cd tray:

When not in use I just unhooked the mic and put it in the console or glove compartment, heck you, can even pull up the cup holders and stick it under there since there's some room.

Here's was my original design w/ the custom housing i made from a piece of sheet metal:

Ya, that looks great like that. I have the older style of dash and console, or else I would have done it that way for sure.

I was trying to think of a way to mount it in my older style of console in the flip up section that normally holds either cassettes or cup holders, depending on what model you have, but I got impatient and just decided to mount it right to the dash.
