Opinions on Zaino Products

Recommended Posts

After reading through a few posts here mentioning some of the Zaino products I decided to order the leather cleaner and detail kit. Probably should have asked here first but was wondering for those here that used Zaino if you were satisfied with their products and how long the paint protection lasts between applications?

I started using Zaino products in 2001. First, their products are excellent and the paint protection and shine are long-lasting. They really hold up well under all weather conditions and you should still see water beading after 6 months. If you keep your truck garaged, it can last up to a year between applications. (this is for Z-2 and Z-5).

Zaino carries a wide variety of paint protection products. Although they call their paint finishes "Polish", they are actually synthetic polymer waxes. In the truest sense, a polish is a compound that can correct paint defects, scratches, imperfections, etc. Zaino Products are applied to the paint to make it extremely shiny and protect from the elements.

Zaino's "polishes", or synthetic polymers, can be difficult to use, especially in hot and humid weather conditions. I've actually stopped using the Z-2 and Z-5 polishes simply because the Z-8 Spray Seal works so well... and it's simply spray and wipe!

The 2 Zaino products that I am still using after nearly 15 years of detailing are the Z-6 Detail Spray, and the Z-8 Ultimate Spray Seal. (Z-6 for light cleaning, Z-8 for shine and protection). These are the only products I ever use on my Silverado, Acadia and Corvette. I'm constantly being asked "What wax do you use?" Quick and easy, great paint protection... and that shine!!!

Die-Hard Zaino users will recommend Z-2 and Z-5 for ultimate protection and shine. (I used to be one of those guys until I got old and decided it was too much work!)

I'll second what Luster said, and will add Z-CS is EVERY bit as incredible as they claim +2. I was very, veeeery skeptical, but if you haven't tried the "wipe on, walk away" polymers such as this, you simply must. Total game changer. I would recommend a quality product such as the Z, I would hesitate to use a Turtle Wax variant myself.

I completely agree about the Z-CS product. No wipe-off, no buffing, no polishing. I've used it on paint and wheels and it's great stuff. (PS... don't shake it and don't add water. Ask me how I know.) :nonod:

Thank you for the advice. I had been looking for something to put on my truck that would last longer than the conventional waxes. The benefit of how well the Zaino Products make the paint look is an added bonus for me. We shall see.

Thanks again

I had an Acura TL and belong to a forum where Zaino products were pretty much all anyone recommended. Clay bar to detail the paint then on go the varous Z products. And, I believe, with subsequent applications, you actually make the finish more and more like glass. I had actually forgotten about them, but maybe it's time to get started with them because having to do a crazy thorough job of washing on this truck gets old really quick. Having a quality coating that aids in the washing process will certainly help.

I applied Clear Seal (Z-CS) on the Corvette just before we left on our road trip to Indianapolis last weekend.

It took 5 minutes to apply.

I let it dry for 15 minutes. No wiping. The Zaino website says it will last 9 months.

+1

I've been using Zaino products since ~2000 when I had my black Trans Am. Easy application in sunny/humid Florida or cold Canada. Easy to apply, easy to remove.

I use Z2 the most, wash with Z3 and have recently tried Z6 gloss enhancer when I have less time. The nice thing about Z2 is that you can reapply in layers with amazing results. I found that thin coats work best. I'm a big fan of their "leather in a bottle" as well. I've even used it on the sofa.

Looks like I'll have to try out Z-CS based on the comments above.

Take a look at my gallery pics for a freshly Zaino'd Yukon.

Lots to select from on their site. Ended up getting their "Triplets" to start off with. Has the Z-AIO, Z-CS, and Z8 Spray seal. Also got the leather in a bottle. Cant afford any more right now but I'm looking forward to trying these out. Guess I should have got the Z7 wash after all those though.

To those who use or have used the range of products that they offer:

I'm wondering if there's a product, or combination of products, that would help make "wash day" easier for me. In the spring especially, because I park my truck outside, I get sap, bird doo, and a variety of buds that fall from trees. I'm interested in knowing if I can make it much easier to get these things off of the truck by a) simply rinsing (or sitting through a reasonable rain storm), b) power rinsing/washing the truck at a manual car wash, or c) hand-washing the truck.

I'm not looking to make it into a show truck, just interested in making clean up a bit easier (which would seemingly also generally protect the finish by not allowing that garbage to stick to the finish so solidly).

I've used every product on their website.

For your purposes, I would recommend either Z2 Show Car Polish or Z-CS Clear Seal. If you're looking for quick and easy with the highest rate of protection, Z-CS without a doubt.

  • Wash your truck
  • Dry it.
  • You can clay-bar it if you want but you don't really have to.
  • Apply Z-CS as per label instructions. USE SPARINGLY.
  • Let it dry and DON'T TOUCH IT. (should take 10 minutes or so to apply)
  • Dry in 15 minutes
  • Done
  • Do this every 6 months (spring and fall)

This will protect your paint from tree sap, dirt, rain, acid rain, bird droppings, sun, etc.

BUT..... because the truck sits out all the time, the Zaino is not going to last like it would if you keep it in garage or carport. That's why it needs to be done at least every 6 months.

  • Wash it once a week (self-serve car wash)
  • After you wash and dry the truck, wipe it down with Z8 Grand Finale Spray Seal.
  • This will extend the shine and protection

Your truck will be MUCH easier to keep clean if you keep Z-CS Sealant on it. (You can also apply more than one coat for longer lasting protection and shine.)

One thing to note:

Stay away from Carnuba Waxes.

They're great for show cars. They really make the shine pop! But the down side is... on a daily driver, carnuba will only last a couple weeks, at best.

Polymer sealants are the only way to go. Most will last 6-12 months.
