GM refuses to stand behind their vehicles, the game continues

Recommended Posts

So I have been more than patient, who else has had these issue? I have electrical problems some of which will shut my truck down at highway speed. A transfer case that I know as a trained engineer has a defect in it which will fail ahead of it's time, but they know it might last past 100k so whr would they fix the problem. They refuse to accept the truck in for a 3rd time on any issue to avoid the lemon laws in my state. The customer service is the worst I have ever seen (sorry those if you monitoring this but it's the truth) I have been flat out lied to, ignored, and treated like no customer of any product should be. So I have an almost 50k truck I cannot allow my wife to drive and must put my life on the line everyday I drive it down the highway to get to my work. If you are thinking of buying a GM vehicle, please consider the number of people who are having these issues. The sad thing is if they would fix my truck I would love this truck instead of hate it. It is no fun to drive a vehicle knowing if you may loose all power and most control at any moment. At least two people I know are avoiding this brand due to what has happened to me, and I am just trying to help spread the word of how awful this manufacturer is at holding their word. This is nothing new, they have in the past made the same decisions which have injured or killed many customers that have only recently been admitted too.

I know this will get flagged and deleted, but maybe if I save one person by posting this it will be well worth the time.

I feel for you. My 97' GMC K1500 was a complete POS when I finally sold it at 167,000 miles on the odometer. From the day I bought it as a lease return with 17,000 miles on it, that god forsaken CEL has been on more time than I care to mention. If I weren't mechanically inclined I simply couldn't afford to own it. That first generation Vortec engine has got to be the most poorly designed V8 ever made.

Constant P0300 (random misfire) issues with the CSFI (poppet valve) fuel injection system and even with an upgraded MFI system. Constant loss of antifreeze (internal & external leaks) due to piss poor design of intake manifold. Constant issues with VSS (variable speed steering) system with steering wheel violently jerking out of your hands on a nice 45 mph sweeping turn. And serverly undersized braking system.

I deemed it my rolling death trap and refused to let my wife or anyone else drive it. It's simply too dangerous and unpredictable to drive.

First they who won't accept truck 3rd time is dealer not Gm. Customer service is dealer first line not Gm. GM has come a long way. All mfg have had recalls and all have dragged their feet at times. Find another dealer be courteous but persistent use the Gm website numbers get it fixed. No offense but diagnosing transfer case by ear is kinda hard. Demonstration with service writer works best.... Only 167k on Sierra 97 thats a travesty good thing you dumped it on some sucker to eke the last 75000 out of it.

When I had problems with my 98, I took it to different dealers each time in an effort to find a dealership that would properly fix it. After the third attempt, I filed with the BBB for a lemon buyback. If you're having trouble with the dealer, go to a different one.

I work at a dealership... I know things can get pushed aside and not dealt with but you need to find the one that will go the extra length for you; and you know what? Complaining and telling other people to stay away from the manufacturer is very childish. If things aren't working at that dealership go somewhere else, like the others have stated. Using the whole "letting people die" kind of the thing is old and once again childish. It's a new company run by a new CEO and they are putting great products on the road right now for their consumers, but things aren't always perfect and things won't always go as planned so suit up and go figure it out, find a dealership that will listen and stop ranting to friends and on a website because that is just going to make things worse and not accomplish anything.

Customer service has repeatedly not responded, closed cases without appointments and am again involved in a live case. I guess its ok if the fuel pump fuse blows whenever it wants to. NO REPAIR. And GM will no authorize repairs. GM Sends out reps who will not Authorize repairs. Guess what, it's GM

Nice you work for them. Guess what, I paid a bunch of money for my truck, maybe I want to make sure other people don't waste theirs. I have been in constant contact and they have literally lied to me on multiple occasions. They have tried to drag everything they can out. They are a terrible company and worse than ever. Why do I need to work on my new truck that is under warranty? Their idea of going the extra mile is printing a TSB which does not apply to my issue. The most I got them to do is agree there is a problem but GM won't let them do anything. It must be real easy to sit back and not even have any idea of what I am going through, or what my knowledge of vehicles might be.

Probably about as easy as going through every problem thread and regurgitating the same sentence over and over about operating as designed.

There's one thing I don't get every time I read one of these disgruntled threads. Yeah, it sucks having a brand new vehicle with problems- but it happens. This thread is almost 9 months old. That's almost 9 months to off it and go buy the perfect truck, yet here we sit.

And you can always call your State Attorneys General consumer protection dept and relay your concerns. The call is free! It varies by state which agency handles consumer protection and lemon law stuff. If nothing else, you can learn your options and procedures for dealing with a problem vehicle.
