BlackZ71Silverado
I have the Borla system on my 2008 V-Max and its been great. I have looked at several exhaust pictures but never asked the question. Sorry if it ha been asked before but what does that flapper valve do for the new trucks and why is it there? Bvonscott
Yours has drone in it, only the GM Borla sold only by GM doesn't. Oh geez what is with the no drone crowd around here! COME ON lol. If you are buying an exhaust and it is louder than factory you are going to have to deal with things like "drone". A performance exhaust is supposed to have drone. It is supposed to have more power. It is supposed to be aggressive and be louder. BORLA, can you please make a video of the ATAK system on a 6.2 GMC?? That would be awesome.
jay15892
My Gibson exhaust has zero drone. And I have the AFM turned off. A proper exhaust should sound good and have no drone..
AZRenegade
I've installed a Borla exhaust on my '15 Sierra and have no issues with drone. Unfortunately, I can't say the same for their technical support. I installed my exhaust over two weeks ago and am still waiting for them to respond to my email question that I sent prior to the installation. Maybe next time I'll go with Corsa. Bvonscott
A good loud exhaust will have plenty of drone and sound aggressive. The drone means you can hear the exhaust all the time like you should. It shouldnt be quiet sometimes and loud others. That doesnt make any sense.

I had a 2011 Mustang GT with 3 inch pypes cat back and it was very loud. The only time I had drone was about 3,000 rpms cruising. It has to do with the frequency of the exhaust that causes the sound to resonate in the cab. Everything, not just musical instruments, resonate at a specific frequency. Your muffler, pipes, cab, bed, etc. all have fundamental frequencies which can contribute to drone. One company sells what's called a J-pipe that you can tune to the frequency that is causing the drone. You see those used more in Camaros and other sport cars but I'm sure it's able to be put on a truck. Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk

I currently have a magnaflow and I like to hear it at all times but I certainly dont hear any abstract resonance sounds I just hear the exhaust. I'm getting electric cutouts so its even louder. I mean for people to know my truck is a beast.
newdude
We just installed a GM Borla on a 2014 double cab. Dual bumper exit. The guy called back not 20 minutes later and kept explaining how it was worth the $$$. Great tone, no drone. He said 4cyl mode sounded more or less no different than stock. The flapper valve and tune pipe/bypass pipe(?) setup is slick.
KARNUT
Drone is caused by hooking the exhaust together (X pipe). In the days when you had true duals and smaller pipes (2 - 21/4 pipes we had no drone. I had plenty done. There is a blend, no separation. When you have increase sound and V4 your going to have the helicopter sound , no getting around it. Can use them on any vehicle as they are adjustable
