Kooks Headers Installed

Recommended Posts

2015 6.2L 1500

No pics or vids or anything yet but with the stock catback I am really surprised and happy about how QUIET it is. It sounds like stock, honestly. Usually long tubes wake the neighbors. I installed the Kooks Y-pipe with high flow cats.

So now I am debating a catback, its not a no brainer for me to get one. I do not want a loud exhaust at all on my truck, I was worried I would have to install something quieter than stock.

Stock catback must be REALLY restrictive or really well designed....usually catbacks are good for 5 HP. If it is this quiet with long tubes.....could it be worth more????

I have a corsa sport catback on my 5.3 and its night and day from stock even without headers. You should probably go with a borla touring if you don't want something loud.

Any reasoning behind getting the 1 3/4 for the truck over 1 7/8?

want to keep torque and power as low in the RPM range as possible, not concerned about 5K+ RPM power in a truck.

i may just swap the muffler. i can hear it struggling to breathe now but need to find the right balance between flow and noise.

I would keep the stock catback it was me. Then cut out the flapper valve and the muffler and replace it with something else. I went with a Magnaflow muffler. It was still a little quite so then I had the resonator cut out and it is perfect now. Quite while under part throttle and nice grown when you are on it.

Headers are in my long term plan, just got to get the new house built first, then a new carbon fiber hardtail mountain bike, a C7 and then headers for the truck...lol

What do you do Higgs? I work for an electric utility company on the power delivery side via outage restoration. We get some OT, nothing like what the trouble shooters and linemen get.
