Well, I got the emblem on ebay for about 40 bucks shipped. came with the backing/mounting plate also.

the resin and dye was another 26 bucks or so on amazon (prime shipping)

I got cheap flexible led strips from amazon also, nonwaterproof so I can save space, I'll use waterproofing spray when i am done, and the connectors so I can cut/reattach pieces easily for a total of 12 dollars. I went with cheap led strips because I don't want extremely bright LEDs (for fear that ill have hot spots) and im using a driver i have laying around at home from when I built a 3 watt laser (you know, because everyone NEEDS a 3 watt laser to burn things they probably shouldn't burn).

so total i have in parts is 78 bucks. if you add the cost of the driver you are maybe at 85 or so. we will see how it goes. any result is better than spending the 600 on it lol

obviously will be much less if you have the gonads to give it a shot on the emblem on your truck without buying another.

if I'm successful I'll put a build thread together, if not I'll let you all know.

Alright, i am still waiting for my epoxy dye to get here, so here is the first part of the experiment/build, pretty simple, i took alot of pics for anyone interested. they speak for themselves butyou pretty much just drill the plastic welds out from the back and remove the red letters. more to come...

What's the plan for getting the lighting in there? Are you going to put SMD's behind the large square openings and have the epoxy carry the light? Or are you going to bury SMD's and fill the letter cutouts with epoxy?
