Hellwig vs Eibach swaybars

Recommended Posts

Solid bar would give you much more resistance to body lean/roll, but weight much more than the hollow bars.  The stock bars are hollow.

Hellwig does a pretty good job of making good quality antisway bars.  The installation is usually bolt up with no holes to drill.  Polyurethane bushings are supplied with the kits.  Their mounting hardware (bolts) and finish leave a little to be desired.  Their paint finish is not the greatest.  The bolts are usually mixed with high quality grade 8 and lesser quality bolts.  I've used their kits on several vehicles.  While the parts supplied do an adequate job, the quality of the finish and mounting hardware have decreased in the last 10 years.

Hotchkiss and Eibach usually has better finish.  The kits are also more expensive.  From what I have seen, they come in complete matched kits for front and rear.  They are decent kits also.

I don't think you can go wrong with either.  It just depends on your budget.

I've used the Hellwig and have some experience with Hotchkiss.  I have not really had any experience with the Eibach set.  With all being equal diameters, I would go with the solid bars because it would deflect less.  I don't really think that you could go wrong with any of the setups.  They will all improve the handling as promised.  Just check to see if it is a bolt up or whether the intall requires drilling.  I would shy away from having to drill any holes in the frame.

Just as a side note, I would not recommend driving a truck like a sports car.   :nono: I've seen to many f'ups.  The sway bars will give you a bit more margin as far as handling, but you still have the high center of gravity to contend with.  If you lose control going into a turn, you will more than likely end up on the roof.  If you are going to drive really aggressively, get a sports car.  Ok, I will get off the soapbox now.
