Again wax doesn't make your vehicle shiney it's the prep work to the paint that does

wax/sealant should not change the way your vehicle looks in a perfect world. Polish/prep work yields the result that most are after. If wax/sealant does make your paint more "shiny", it's because your paint is in poor condition......which is ok, but it's important that the difference is known.

Each year in late spring (after the blossoms have fallen off all of my neighbors trees), I take a full day and devote it to my vehicle. I clean the interior first. After that, I do a wash (I use a foam cannon, then the 2 bucket method whenever I wash), then I clay bar the entire thing (Glass included), then I spend a few hours polishing it with a DA Polisher and progressively finer compounds/pads, then I put on a nice coat of wax, and finish it off with a detailing/sealing spray (and also clean the windows with a window cleaner). Once that is done, all of the damage from the winter/spring is gone and I just need to maintain it with regular washes (once again with a foam canon and 2 buckets), followed by a detail spray/sealer while drying. By the end of the day I barely have enough energy to take it out for a spin :(

As others have mentioned, you will get great results out of just about any product that you use... some are just easier to use than others (eg most chemical guys stuff is safe to apply in the sun, most of their waxes/glazes/etc buff off extremely easily, etc), and the more expensive lines typically last longer than the cheaper products. As mentioned earlier, I use Chemical Guys and Poor Boys because the price is ok, and they are extremely easy/forgiving to use. The most expensive part is to outfit yourself with a DA polisher/pads/compounds for polishing; but if you are not going to go through that step on a yearly basis then you can knock that piece out.

Based on what I have read, and what is readily available in Canada I have gone with Chemical Guys P40 polish and M Seal, Collinite 485 wax, and 303 Aerospace protectant. These seem to be the b es St value for what I am looking for.

Thank you for all the info.

Any recommendations for getting the black stuff off my polished aluminum wheels? I've tried Maas, Never Dull, just regular soap and water but nothing seems to really help.
