Cat-back dual exhaust

Hi All,

I am thinking about going to my local Midas shop and having a cat-back dual exhaust system with split rears installed on my truck. I have a '03 GMC 4.8 Sierra, EC, SB.

I am concerned about any sensor or computer problems that this might cause. If anybody knows if this would be OK or if it would be trouble, please let me know.

You will not have any sensor problems.Why Midas-do it your self and save $$$. Get a Gibson,Borla,Edlebrock,or something like it -easy to install.

Keep in mind if the pipe go straight out you will hear them in the cab a lot if you tow;in that case it is better to go out the sides.

I installed the Borla Catback on my Escalade and it took only two hours to complete. Easy.

We will probably go the do-it-yourself route. We are waiting for the weather here in upstate NY to get a little warmer, as we will probably have to do the install outside. Still haven't decided on what muffler system to use yet.

If your not towing, how much difference in the cab noise is there between straight out the back or out the sides??

Tweeter, the level of cab noise is somewhat dependent on the muffler you choose but I just recently changed my exhaust from a dual pipe, rear exit setup to a single pipe, side exit setup and the cab noise is now noticeably lower. My butt-dyno says I picked up a little low-end torque as well.

I actually noticed a little more noise in mine when I took the tips off my flowmaster cat-back setup. Nothin major, I kinda like the sound anyway. And chicks dig the GROWL!

im from upstate NY also ,but i to have the dual exhaust.i have no problems @all :thumb: .couple with that my "AirAid"and HPlll.it music to the ears(but i like it rumbly IMHO )

Hey Razor,

Those split rear duals look really sharp. That is what I hope mine finally look like when we get it done. What size outlet pipes did you use & what size chrome extenders?

That's what mine looked like, but I took off the tips because I could never get them to look even. So I just got a couple turn downs and dump it under the bed. can't see the exits now, and it's a little louder.
