Amp Powersteps Plug and Play, Possible Issue?

Recommended Posts

I just installed Amp Powersteps on my 2015 Sierra CC. I bought the plug and play kit (76154-01A) and the OBD2 pass through harness (76404-01A). On the first full day of using the steps, my Intellilink screen froze solid black with only the backup guide lines showing. The backup camera doesn't work. The radio plays, but none of the buttons work on the display or touch screen. At face value, these would seem to be unrelated to each other. Then, after speaking with a friend that works at a GM dealership, I found out that there's a TSB about the subject.

#13-08-116-001B: Aftermarket ALDL or DLC Interface Devices Causing Multiple Issues - (Mar 26, 2015)

In a nutshell, aftermarket devices that work off the OBD2 port can interfere with high and low speed data bus traffic, causing multiple issues including some with the infotainment system. Has anyone else experienced any issues possibly related to the plug and play Amp steps?

I have a 2014 Silverado with the AMP Powersteps with the Plug n Play connection and pass thru harness. Been running it since June 2014 and have not seen this issue. The only problem I had was twice (once on driver side; once on pass side) the step extended when door was opened, but did not retract after door was closed. Just opened/closed door and it reset both times. Other than that, they've been great.

Perhaps you could remove the pass thru to make sure it isn't bad. Also open the driver door for 5 minutes with key removed or disconnect the battery to reset Infotainment system. Sometimes these work for 2014 models, but not sure about 2015.
