Upgraded DriveShaft

Recommended Posts

Was cruising the instagram information highway last night and came across this:

2014+ 2 piece 3.5" Driveshaft Upgrade

According the post from "Chuckstuning" (Houston House of Power) - this is a custom 2pc / 3.5" driveshaft. Price is $1600 with installation. Just thought some people might be interested in this and was worth sharing.

I don't know how much you would gain adding this to a mostly stock/bolt-on truck. This is mostly a support mod for high horsepower setups.

Chuck is a good guy though and super reputable for his GM tunes and upgrades. I keep dabbing at the thought of heading down there for a week and getting a cam and tune done from him.

Totally understand its not meant for a stock truck. Just figured I'd share... I'm also a little far to be driving down to Chuck anytime soon.

I live five minutes from Chuck's shop and I can tell you hes a top notch GM tuner and had probably tuned hundreds if not thousands of GM engines. This guy does major work to the C7's to make stupid power. He recently had a 2014 in for a dyno pull and it spit the drive shaft around 100mph on the dyno. Im sure this drive shaft is a result of that. He had pictures of the super thin walled aluminum 2 piece from the 2014 when it went. Although expensive, I sure this drive shaft is basically bulletproof.

I'm considering upgrading just for the sheer fact I'm on my second drive shaft in 8,500 miles and it's starting to have the same issues as my last. Clicking/ticking sound coming from the rear where the axle meets the shaft when under load. Had a whole new drive shaft replaced and it took care of it but only for a few months and now its back again.

Just know the fact that if you change it GM might not want to touch your drivetrain again if the clicking/ticking comes back.
