GMpartsDirect.com...this is not right.

I went to order brakes and got the price and of course they want a part verification and so I sent them a request.

When I got the request back the next day, and I went to order the part......they raised the price!

What kind of BS is that?

I ordered the parts and I sent them a request to credit me the difference.

I thought they were above doing stuff like that....maybe not.

GM has been raising the prices on the new tow mirrors, maybe they are having some manufacturing process issues slowing them down, causing less output, and therefore have to raise the prices on all parts affected.

Keep an eye on their S&H charges. They can be way over what others charge. The price with their discount looks competitive, then the S&H kills the savings. I've found other GM parts dealers online that offer the same or better pricing and either free or reasonable S&H. It seems to be very high S&H on all the stuff I actually order. When I check prices, sometimes yes, sometimes not so much.

Another thing I just noticed: I looked for a throttle body just now. It shows their discounted price as $96.91. I put it in the cart and it shows as 100.63. Then the S&H is $18.11 (reasonable) on top of that. Same thing on some brake pads. When you add it to the cart the price changes. It just seems like they're messing with you for $5-10 here and there. There may be an honest explanation of all of this, but the reality is that it comes across as deceptive. To their credit, they often have some of the best prices.

If the manufacturing process is being hindered in any way, like when they had issues producing the new trucks with things like a sunroof, then supply goes down, and demand up, if supply is down then prices will rise.

uh...it sounds like they just switcharooed the pricing on him. If GM does a price update, it is every month or every other month. Brake rotor retail pricing (AC Delco and most OEM rotors/pads) have been unchanged for a couple years. GMPartsDirect sells stuff discounted from retail, and they hiked the price on him.

And by the time you pay for shipping from them, you could have gone down to your local dealer, got the parts guy to take 10 or 20% off and pay near the same.

Lots of sites have intenet pricing and "special" pricing. Did this with my heads to save $50 I had to call the company to directly place the order or no $50 off.

These were actually brake pads for my wife's Pontiac.

I went to the local dealer and they wanted 116.00 for them. I showed them a printout from Chevy.com for the same thing for $51.00 and they said they could maybe take $10.00 off, but couldn't compete with the internet pricing.

So I looked up where I bought them last time and it was GM Parts Direct, so I thought I would order them there again. They were GM pads and that is what I wanted.

It seems some brake pads at local parts houses may be fine, but I have noticed that most of them have more metal in them and cause the rotors to wear or get hard spots in them and then the vehicle starts pulsating while braking.

I just like using the stock parts.

Years ago I bought lifetime warranty spark plug wires from somewhere and thought I was ahead of the game.

When I had a mechanic friend look at the engine he told me to put the stock wires back on even thought they were expensive.

I eventually took his advise and did replace them and the engine actually ran smoother! I couldn't believe it.

Here is the Scoop!

I received an e-mail from them and this is what it said.

Hi Ron,

Please keep in mind the online catalog is a third party catalog and is owned and operated by TradeMotion. We are not able to update the pricing in their catalog.

Please add the items and quantities to your cart in order to receive the current pricing, then click the checkout now tab twice in order to receive the current delivered price.

Thanks,

Jason

So i think this is FRAUD... is it not?

I've never used their catalog. I always see the price when I look at it/add it to cart.

I use gmpd and Iamgmparts.com too. I've had very good luck with both.

iamgmparts sometimes has higher "prices" but a lower OTD price.
