2015 sierra tranny whine

Recommended Posts

Hi all... just signed on. I have been lurking for a while reading pages upon pages of great info here. I just got a deal on a new 2015 denali sierra 1500, 5.3 w/ 3.42 a few weeks ago and mostly love it. But, one thing, anybody notice tranny whine? It's only 1st gear or backing up at a good clip. It reminds me of riding in a crown vic cab with 280k miles on it. Thanks and nice to "meetcha".

Thanks! No, its actually when I am taking it easy on it. Like accelerating slowly in drive, there is a noticeable whine that isnt real loud but definitely there. When backing down our 150 foot or so driveway, I get going probably 10-15 mph or so in reverse... then its quite obvious. All other gears are very quiet. I just ditched an 06 Hemi Ram and never noticed anything coming from that rig. I am not overly concerned if its the nature of the beast... especially with a warranty!

Sorry for the small text, not sure why that happened! edit for text size..

Gear sets do whine , but if it gets louder ..... Duh take it in , if not , keep checking for TSBs

There was a problem with old 4l80s with a gear whine in first and goes away in 2nd , ..

The inspection was any end play in the rear output shaft ,,,, customer got a new tranny ,

It was awesome ,,,

THIS DOES NOT APPLY TO YOU I'm afraid ,,so do not ask a service advisor about it

Thanks! I wasn't sure if this was a common noise to all 15's...

My 14 does it first thing I noticed from day one. Its only in first gear thank its common to all. Have a friend with a 2011 and his does it too. It does remind me of a crown vic, mercury marquis, and lincoln.

My 14 does this also. But I only seem to notice the noise when it cold or after its been sitting for a long time. 6+ hours but goes away very quickly. Just figured its the way the gears are cut.
