AFE installed

Recommended Posts

AFE got back to me.

“The prototype that was developed (sample) for this vehicle looks exactly as it is in the customer’s picture. This part was built exactly as it should have been. The design may not be perfect aesthetically, but it will work.” That exhaust is manufactured exactly how they wanted it. Rubber mount that hits the muffler is fine, won’t cause any damage. There is no fitment issue. Sorry for the delay, thanks.

So there you have it folks. AFE's is designed this way. Big false alarm I guess. I'm very happy with my system. Still don't think the bushing should be hitting the muffler.... but it works. On to more important things in life.

I don't think it's a false alarm at all. The hanger bushing/isolater should not touch an exhaust pipe or muffler body. If they designed it this way they suck.

^ I agree. But I have bigger battles in life. The material and construction of the system aside from that is top notch. I guess this is why Magnaflow gets the big bus for their systems. I honestly think they just gave me an answer to go away. If indeed it's how they designed it... then I pretty much found the fix for them. The outboard hanger needs trimmed and put in the same plane, which would correct two items. Level the muffler case out and get the bushing away from the case. But what do I know... I'm some OCD Type A S.O.B. that expects everything to be built to perfection.

No worries Half_ton. You motivated me to actually get a Youtube account. So i'll upload vid this week guys. And you'll also see why I can't "push the tip in" to keep it from sticking out. I'm good with the tip now. Just looks like I have a Diesel truck:)

I decided to order the Dynomax VT Catback as well.

This video (sound clips driving) at the end sold it for me.

Long term update. the AFE has gotten a lot more quiet with use. I like it. still can hear it and tell it's got a system. But as its gotten quieter... the 4cyl drone has gotten a lot better. Can't really even tell it's in 4cyl mode now. Now i'm happy with the system!!! Aside from the bushing issue and the tip being a bit big, I love it.
