What kind of exhaust should i use???!!!!??????

Recommended Posts

I bought a 95 silverado a few months ago with a 350 in it.  It has the stock exhaust on it still and i want to put some sort of duals on it.  it has the single pipe with the single cat.  Im kind of debating between flowmaster american thunder series and having the exhaust shop put on straight pipes.?????????? I want it to be loud but good sounding ecspecially when i get on it and even through acceleration and i also want it to make that cackling noise.  What should i use???? can someone please help me.. ???

Personally, I like how 40 and 50 series 2-chamber flowmasters sound.  I have a 40 series 2-chamber flowmaster behind my 350, and I really like it.  One nice thing about the TBI 350's is most mufflers sound good behind them.  Glasspacks sound terrible on everything in my opinion, and I would stay away from those.  Straight-through mufflers sound really good on TBI 350's as long as you keep the catalytic converter.  If you plan to remove it, I would recommend getting a quieter muffler, otherwise the exhaust note sounds real dirty.

I've messed around with a lot of different exhaust systems on TBI 350's and the best one I've ever heard was called a "Turbo Pack" muffler.  I'm not sure who even makes that muffler, but it was essentially a straight through muffler (one pipe in, 2 out) with contoured "bumps" on the inside of it.  It didn't have any packing material or anything.  It really sounded great on a TBI 350.

I have a friend with an American Thunder catback on his 94' fullsize Blazer, and it sounds real good.  I have another friend with a 94' fullsize Blazer that has a Gibson catback, and it really sounds even better.  And another friend with a 94' Z71 that has two straight-through turbo mufflers, and it also sounds good, just not as good as the others for some reason.  I think the single pipe exhaust systems sound better, but I actually like the look of the duals, so thats what I went with.

If your worried about being too loud, my muffler is nearly straight through (no packing at all), and it has a nice deep tone, but isn't overly loud.

Good luck  :banghead:
