Where did you find your black door handles and mirrors? Also, how much are we talking for the black trim pieces (on the doors and fenders)?

Thanks

I bought the handles and mirrors off of ebay, you just have to keep checking, the color you need will pop up from time to time.

The black door trim by the windows you can get from your GM dealer, parts dept needs to use a vin number from a truck that came with the black instead of chrome trim pieces. They were around $30 a piece, but that's my employee price... And the painted fender trim I believe my price was a little under $500.

What lights did ya use. I want to do the same thing. Where did you tie in your circuit to??

They are just led strips from pep boys, .. Under the seat I only used around 4 inch strip and under the dash might be around 8".

I tapped into the circuit for the interior dome lamps, so the lights go on and off with the doors opening. It is a gray wire coming out of the first connector in the BCM which is under the driver side dash. I can post a pic if u need it.

  • 1 month later...

Changed the truck up a little bit. Got painted handles and mirror caps, got a killer deal on some stock all terrain 20's, and put 275/65-20 good year duratracs on today! Going to try some gloss vinyl on the chrome trim later. image_62.jpg

How you liking the duratracs? Would you go with them again if you had a choice? Trying to decide between those and the ko2s

I love them, I absolutely would. Truck was a beast and had no problem in the 2ft + of snow we had here a couple weeks ago.

Also, put in some footwell lighting last week. Wired them to the interior lamp circuit, so they fade on and off with opening the doors.

First of all, nice ride! I wouldnt mind seeing a picture of where you tapped in and or where the lights are. Also, your fog lights were just plug and play correct, didn't have any issues installing them?

Thank you! I can get a pic for you of what wire I used. The fog lights were plug and play, no issues, very straight forward install.

Yeah, that'd be great! where did you run the passenger side LEDs to meet up on the driverside to tie in as well. I just picked one up and want to replace all the lighting all around. Headlights, fogs and Reverse. With that 6k does it have a blue tint or is that the camera. Almost all 6k are tinted blue ive noticed but I was just curious. Also, any additional lights advice would be killer. Thanks!

Not sure if your truck has the center console, but in mine I just fished the wire in front of the console over to the passenger side, then I tapped in a wire that I tucked up along side of the center console to under the front seats for the rear led strips.

In my opinion the 6k lights are perfect. In person they don't look too blue at all. I had the 5k kit before the 6k, the 5k didn't impress me color wise. The xb foglights are supposively 5k in color, but they match my 6k kit almost perfectly.

My advice on lights would be don't cheap out, you really do get what you pay for. Get yourself at a minimum the morimoto kit from theretrofitsource.com

Ordered some new bulbs for my morimoto hid kit (one of the original ones burnt up the connector where it plugs into igniter). Went with 6k this time to match the 6k VLED fogs. Went and improved the hid harness a little bit and extended the ground wires and made one solid ground location at the battery. Working for now, hopefully this time I'll have better luck!

Yeah i do have the center console, Ill be looking into doing that soon. I went to that website and looking to pull the trigger on those as well. As for the lights is your headlight unit the H16 HID kit and did you use the canbus. The fog lights are TRS XB's correct?. also, what is the bulb number for the phillips 5k LEDs for the reverse lights, did you keep those in?

On that site, put in your truck and they have the "sierra spec" kit, everything you will need.

Foglights are the xb yes.

The reverse bulbs I still have in, got them from pepboys. Think they are a 921 bulb.

wow really nice build. can't wait to see next steps

Thanks, I appreciate it!
