Street parking

This topic might be humorous or just downright childish to some.

I park my vehicle on the street adjacent to my house. The person across the street has some of his kids living with him (read: moved back in because they couldn't afford to live anywhere else). They will park where I do because they don't feel like playing musical cars on their side of the street or they are lazy. Where this gets interesting... last winter, I parked over on their side during the winter because the street was too narrow to park on both sides. I immediately got a note on my car saying 'park on your side of the street'. Street parking being what it is... it's not like you own your side of the street but I held fast to just parking on my side and had to find an alternate place to put my vehicle until the street was plowed all the way.

That said, when I come home from a long day at work to find one of their POS cars parked almost in between the two available parking spots in front of my house so that I can't really fit my truck there... I get a little pissed.

I don't have much left in me to be vindictive these days but if I were to do something that might dissuade them from parking over by me... what would you suggest that be? I've tried mentioning it to these people but they don't seem to care.

Keep in mind, the neighbor himself is really cool. Him and his wife park in their driveway. It's just his kids or their significant others that are degenerates and don't give a shit about where they park.

The street is owned by the city/municipality. Parking a legally-registered vehicle on any public street where and when it's not prohibited breaks no law. If the cars parked in front of your house were not done properly (blocking mailbox, too close to driveway opening, not close enough to the curb, etc.), you could report them to police and likely the officer would issue a ticket. Other than that, you would have to stoop to their level.

We had this problem with the renters across the street. We asked them and the owners when they were still living there to tell them to stop parking on our side, or at the very least park farther back and block my blue truck since it never moves. Since we drive trucks we pretty much only back in and having that extra couple feet on our side of the road makes it easier. When the owners kids were still living there 5 or 6 years ago the chick would be sitting in her boyfriend's car and I'd be coming home 3-6 am from work. They got the hint real quick when I'd nose my front end to their front end to back in. If I was feeling especially annoyed I'd swing turn at the last minute to scare them. Eventually both issues worked themselves out. Now if only we could get the other neighbor to stop revving his stupid 4 banger all day long. So glad my other neighbor finished his Willy's build with the hemi in it, sounds so much better than that nasty 4 banger. I swear that guy went out of his way to make it sound horrible.

This is definitely annoying and us officers understand it. But if it's on the street not blocking anything it's not illegal. It's also a civil matter so no ticket would be issued unless it happens to block traffic.
