Yeah I wish I knew how much these trucks cant be added on, I had a 2002 stripped down sl I bought in 2003 didn't have anything after i was done it had everything factory, fogs, etc seems it was easier back then. If the truck didn't have it they just ordered the kit and presto done!

Right. They don't seem to have these trucks designed to enable the "kits."

GM has told me many times "We do not offer a foglight kit for your truck."

Theonly reason they dont is because the factory forward lamp harness doesn't have the output for fogs. If they would have used the same forward lamp harness for all silverados instead of making 2 different harnesses they could already have a kit on the ground.

I'm not saying don't try it, just.. you may have to do some creative engineering.

check out gm upfitters. They have a 323 page pdf of all kinds of wiring diagrams. You may not get what you want, but you'll know more about your truck than you ever cared to!

They installed a slider in a truck that had just back glass? How'd it come out?

Came out great. He wanted it so he could have access to the back with a topper.

Not sure how much it would be but it doesn't seem like it would be cheap. I for one have this on my must have list after having it on my current truck. I use it all the time. I was actually amazed at how much it increased the air flow.

.Power slider?

I don't recall if it was power or not, I'll ask next time I see him. But I think it was manual, otherwise they'd have to wire it up or add a button.

I love mine, use it as much as possible. All my older trucks didn't have one, this time around it was a must. The wiring harness runs from the passenger side fuse panel, down the passenger side up to the rear wall.. It actually doesn't seem like a bad mod to do really.

No, but I have heard of a ton of guys saying that they have never even used their sliding rear window.

LIES!

Use mine all the time.

Hell's yeah!

I've opened mine once in a year.

What why?

Sunroof pulled back, rear window slide open, sunglasses on, me and my dog love it!

Wish I had a sunroof!

I had one on an old truck. Only opened it once... At the dealer when I bought it.

Tisk tisk!

I use mine pretty much daily.

Use it or lose it!

I've never been inclined to buy a lightly equipped vehicle, then try to add all the options myself. Seems cost and labor intensive to do it yourself. You have to use cash resources, spend more money for the parts than the options, and then install it yourself. I figure just buy the truck with as much equipment as you want from the maker. You can use someone else's money too.

Chances are good that no, it's not that simple.

Even if you have everything there, the fuse, the relay (the switch is probably in the accessory switches below the radio right? I've never even seen one of these in person.) You will still be missing the motor, the glass/assembly and the BCM will not be enabled to allow it. You would need to have the BCM reprogrammed to enable that functionality, purchase a new aux switch set, motor, and glass.

Now that being said.. GM is doing things a bit differently these days. It's possible your truck is not even wired for it (IE, no wires running to where the motor should be.) If that's the case you'd need an entire cab wire harness and it would be a HUGE pain to change out and cost hundreds of dollars.

Now that aside.. if you wanna rig up a toggle switch and pull 12v from it, buy the motor, the window and make your own power slider, you can do that all day long.

If you choose to do it more power to you, certainly, write it up and tell others who may be interested what you go through but.. from the getgo, since I'm working on adding "Factory fogs" to my truck.. it can quickly become a money pit and a headache.

Allow me to chime in with some info directly from the head Chief Engineer over the GM truck division on this actual process. When I was working with him on my truck with the infotainment issue I brought up the fact that GM deleted my rear slider while my truck was being built and didn't notify me/dealer until the truck was enroute to the dealer. Then GM gave no ETA on if you did order the slider when it would come off of constraint.

We looked into having GM put the slider in my truck at the dealership after the fact. You have to have a SLT or LTZ optioned truck (the higher packages) and if you do the wiring is already up in the overhead console. The engineer said it is a simple plug and play process, problem comes into the parts. Parts alone it is $2500 to get everything needed to put the factory slider into the truck.

Then it requires the entire rear interior to be removed in order to put it in as the back wall of the cab has a different access panel to allow the motor assembly to fit.

After talking with my dealer it was looking around $4k in parts and labor to have one put into my truck, at that time the engineer said GM didn't want to go that route for me due to cost and not being able to assure factory quality of the install. We actually talked about a buyback at that point which I declined as I didn't want to be out for my tag and title fees and than have to swap over all of my mods onto a new truck.

So it could be done, but due to shear costs I seriously doubt anyone will ever attempt it.

Damn. I'm going to appreciate mine even more haha. Took me a while to find a truck optioned the way I wanted...glad I waited though. Never thought it would be that much.

If you didn't get one from the factory but want one, I'd recommend going aftermarket. Here's one example: http://www.dkhardware.com/product-70438-epc814s-perfect-fit-powr-sliders-for-2014-chevy-gmc-silverado-sierra-1500.html

I personally use mine all the time. I have a camper shell and it's nice to have a large cooler of drinks/food back there so you don't need to stop every time the kids get cranky on a long trip--and yet not have that cooler taking up space in the interior. If you ever use a large slide-in camper, it's all the more necessary.

I think I've gathered all the part numbers necessary, also I found the plug behind the seat taped to itself. Here's what I came up with if anyone is looking, BTW all parts are for 2014 Gmc Sierra SLE Z-71, Greyinterior/dub cab.

  • FUSE & RELAY BOX, RIGHT Part #22988417
  • SWITCH Part #11546948
  • TRIM PLATE Part #23104423
  • COMTROL MODULE PART #22857412
  • SLIDING GLASS Part #23441998
  • REAR GLASS MLDG Part #2281743
  • MOLDING EXTN, RIGHT Part #22817430
  • HARNESS Part #23127742
