flowmaster mufflers

Recommended Posts

I was just wondering if anyone has dual 40 series flowmaster mufflers on their 6.0 HD?  Do you like the setup?  Did you notice and power loss or gain?  I plan on putting some on my HD, but I'm not sure if I should get 3"in/out or 2.5"in/out.  Thanks for the help.

I'm briniging my truck in this morning to have 2 40 series put on my truck.  They will be 2.5" in and out.  I wanted to be sure that I wouldn't lose and low end torque and have heard that this is the best set and that dual 3"s might cause some loss of low end torque.  The other reason is that the place I'm going can't bend pipe well over 3" and they want to do a good job.

I'm paying $350 for the 2 Flowmasters and pipes including about 24" of stainless 3" tips on the end of each tailpipe(similar to older Mustang GT tips in looks, but bigger).

I'll let you know tonight what I think.

For what it's worth, I think Shotgun has dual 3" on his.

OK... It's done!  Wow!  I've got two 40 series Flowmasters.  They are 3" in and 2.5" out.  As soon as the 2.5" pipe clears the rear axle, I've got 3" stainless tail pipes.  All of the pipes were welded and the mufflers were clamped.  They even applied heat resistant paint to cover the welds.  Really a nice job.

Now for the sound... just incredible.  It's defintely loud but what a great sound it has!  I love it!!!  Best of all, I seem to have MORE power than before.  I didn't lose a thing!  It's amazing.  I can barely stop driving.  I keep finding excuses to take another ride.  Even my wife said 'NOW... it sounds like a truck'.
