Edmunds.com recently asked GM's Global VP of Product Development, Mark Reuss, if he thought Chevy should take on the new Ford F-150 Raptor. Reuss replied that capital was limited, and that was not a priority. We all know that in business-speak that means "Nope ain't gonna happen." The interesting part of the exchange came next. Asked about the Chevy Colorado ZR2, Reuss replied "We showed the ZR2 and said we would like to do that." One might take from that Reuss meant "Heck-yeah!"

Draw your own conclusions about the Edmunds interview. However, it may be good to keep in mind that GM has just trademarked the name "Badlands."

LOL I'd be happy with the 5.3 but a 6.2 sounds good!

Hey, Ford went crazy with the Raptor, why can't GM do the same with this? You know it's going to cost $50k anyhow, so they need to make it worth it.

Because a loaded standard z71 sticker is roughly 50k, You might get it for 40ish. I find it hilarious he's referring to lack of capital when the prices of their trucks say different. Expect no less than 65K for a GM direct competitor to the Raptor. At least i do. Hell look at the Reaper.

To top that they're also moving away from the 100,000 mile drive train warranty to now a 60,000 mile. Maybe they'll decrease the price of the trucks 40% too?

Glad they're at considering the ZR2 at least.

Well if they would compete with raptor it would have to be the same price as the raptor or it simply wouldn't sell... But none the less I don't think they'll ever try and compete with it

Great. Now listen up GM. Build the Colorado ZR2, but stuff a 6.2L under the hood too. Your welcome.

If GM put a 6.2 in that ZR2, it would be a raptor killer! I would definitely buy one, but obviously, for the right price, which it would not be more than likely.....

Lets hope your wrong, because otherwise i'm gone from GM. Wont be spending 40-50 on a base truck to sink 10-15 more in it to get it like i want it when i could have what i want for the base price. I'll be honest it's stupid of them to sit out of not making one. Yeah you can say that Ford already has that market, but you know how many GM fans want a GM product? I'd be willing to wager a lot. After all Ford has been selling raptors like hotcakes since it's introduction.

Give Chevy Performance or whoever does the Vette stuff a budget and an aesthetic blueprint and let them go to work from the ground up.

I totally agree,I've been waiting for a Raptor fighter ever since they showed the Silverado ZR2 concept 5-6 years ago,and when I seen it at the All-GM Nationals at Carlisle back in '09 I told the GM rep there....build it and you'll sell one to me for sure, plus many more to other guys!

I still can't understand why they won't/can't build one, makes no sense to me,typical GM though...show a concept, then never produce it,hell I still can't believe the SSR ever made it to production!
