What did I do to my truck today...

I wrecked it!

 

So this is what happens when someone, who can’t get in the left turn lane ahead of time and waits until the last minute and then cuts you off.

 

I was in the left turn lane following the traffic, when we were about 40 feet from actually making the turn, when this lady in a Ford F-150 pulls into my lane and "SMASH!"

 

She actually stopped in the middle of the intersection, and I went around her to get off to the side of the road.

 

Here in California the law states... "A single or double solid white line dividing traffic lanes going in the same direction CANNOT BE CROSSED FOR ANY REASON. CVC 21460"

 

That means if you pass the part of the turn lane that has a broken white line or no line, it is against the law to cross over the solid white line to enter the turn lane.

 

This is why they made that law… plain and simple.

 

She told a "Community Service Police officer", not a full police officer, that she cut across the line and she thought I was going to let her in, but now realizes she should have gone straight. The officer said that she could have been issued a ticket for unlawful lane change.

 

The insurance adjuster is coming out on Monday to look at the truck.

 

The "lady" who hit me could not show proof of insurance, and she did get a ticket for that, I made sure of that. So my insurance is investigating that to determine if I have to pay my $500 deductable or not.

 

Not too bad of damage, but frustrating just the same. Grille is not damaged so that is good.

A good idea. I do not know about Indiana but here in Florida, running red lights is already an epidemic. If traffic is heavy I typically wait a few seconds before I start out when light changes to green because chances are some nut will roar through the intersection at 60 MPH through the red light.

Yep same here especially from the turn lane. Up to 3 cars turn after the light turns yellow to red.

Looks like you need a headlight, fender and possibly a bumper. The bumper can be repaired more than likely. Thats an easy fix

There are at least 5 of those on Amazon ,model numbers 801 to 805. Looking through them now.

 

That falcon has a 170° FOV and takes 13MP stills, and comes with an SD card, and 2.7" screen.

 

Seems like it's worth it for $45 more. Its fairly new, and the description they made on Amazon is well done.
