How is your 4.3L EcoTec3 V6 Engine working out for ya?

Lol you guys crack me up. Like I said. If it works for you then I'm glad your happy. Your can try all you want, you will never sell me on a 4.3.

Fact is for our k2 body, it's the base engine. It's for the random person who drives a truck and never tows or puts anything in the bed.

Screaming 4-5k rpm up a hill towing a trailer isnt "just fine" its barely sufficient. That's great you guys are happy with barely sufficient. Heck now they offer a turbo 4cyl for the base engine. You guys will probably be happy with that.

But anyone who actually uses a truck for truck duties, would never say "damn I'm so happy I bought the 4.3"

The 4.3 is like the crossover of SUVs... " i want an suv but man they are too big, i think I'll get a crossover" i want a truck, but a v8 is too much for me, let me get the 4.3"

LOL...

So you only read the post that agree with you. Okay....I don't do irrational. :seeya:

I agree. I have driven both the 4.3 and 5.3 as my daily drivers. Both with the 6 speed. The 4.3 for 4 years and the 5.3 for a year now. They are night and day obviously. Shifting in the 4.3 was sad, it was always looking for gears. Going up a hill it would shift down sometimes 2 gears unloaded. The 5.3 isn’t even phased on the same roads. I get much better highway with the 5.3, but city isn’t as good as with the 4.3. I guess that’s why it’s typically used for fleet trucks.

Yes, no argument that the 5.3 has more power than the 4.3.  Your comment about one shifting more than the other made me smile.  My father used this rational for buying the most powerful engines offered in the early 60's.  Once he switched from manual to automatic transmissions he didn't care so much!  Your build thread says that you added  255/75r20 tires to your '15 which are 4" taller than stock.  This would have caused some confused shifting.   When I went with larger (1") and heavier tires on my '09 Sierra with the 5.3 the shifting became less predictable. (This was remedied later by returning to factory sizes.)   My current '15 6spd. shifts smoothly and predictably.  If it needs to shift down while climbing a hill, or under load it does so while maintaining cruising speed.  The 5.3 and the 6.2 are unquestionably more powerful than the powerful 4.3!

Really? Mine not so much. Of course I haven't altered the tire diameters either. Really4" more tire and it's the motors fault?

Na I wasn’t running that size, I messed up on that. I always kept stock diameter because I didn’t want to recalibrate. I was running 285/55 at the end. Yea it’s a bit wider but I don’t think it should have made that much of a difference.

I love how you used the word FACT, then proceeded with many opinions. LOL.......

I own both a 4.3 & a crossover, shocking I know...

I never said any of the things you are insinuating people who own either, say.

Your situation may not require a V6 truck or 4cyl crossover, and it may be hard for you to understand, but others situations do, and not only that, they enjoy having what they need, and having anything else would be excessive.

Would you prefer everyone to buy V8s and not use them for what they are made for, instead of just not buying them?

Lol you 4.3 guys get pretty wound up quick.

So your telling me the 4.3 is not the base engine? That's my opinion?

How many of you 4.3 people have it bone stock on performance. No CAI, no exhaust, no tune? How many run on e85 just to have some more power?

“Fact is the 4.3 is a base engine.” What does that mean? That literally means nothing, yes it comes in trucks that do not have power windows. You are using that like it is a statement that proves your opinion about the 4.3, which is that it is underpowered.

It obviously means something because you won’t ever find a 4.3 in a Denali, or a 6.2 in a WT.

Yes in fact it does mean something. MONEY. If you NEED and/or “THINK YOU NEED”, a V8, you will pay more for it.

I’ve spent most of my working life modifying trucks to get within 300HP. It hasn’t been many years since 300HP has been crossed. Not offering an 6.2 in a work truck is stupid, the other brands give you what you want. If the 4.3 was offered in a Denali people would buy it just like the 5.3. It’s a great engine.

2 people said I said fact then offered opinions. The only fact I was stating is there is a reason it's the base engine. People seem to think that's an opinion.
