Think about what that High country has.

navigation

voice command audio system

full power leather bucket seats with memory

4wd

6.2L v8 with over 400hp

leg room to spare AND a truck bed to haul things

towing package

brake controller for large scale trailers with electric brakes

xm radio

bluetooth hands free

heated steering wheel

adjustable pedals

heated AND cooled seats

backup camera with reverse sensors and vibrating seat

blindspot detection

collision detection/prevention

power fold heated mirrors with integrated turn signals

This truck has everything the mercedes has, plus a truck bed and more.

Still think its over priced?

I mean, as a gadget person myself I love a loaded truck, but ya know I bought a used truck because I was unhappy with the new truck prices, and I'm adding the parts I wanted that it didn't come with over time. I have leather buckets seats, 4wd, enough HP for daily driving, and I paid literally half of what the truck you just priced was.

I guess I'm not as concerned with how expensive the new trucks are, I'm more confused with how people are affording to own one. I make a decent salary and there is no way I could tackle a monthly payment on a 45k truck and feel comfortable. More power to all you that can, just makes me wonder.

Many people just have the means. Many others aren't financially responsible and will do whatever it takes to get in a new ride. I guy I work with went through 4 new trucks over about 5 years. One of which he lifted and modded heavily. He didn't mind going upside down on trades and had a truck note north of $700 a month. Another guy I work with is paying $900 a month for a 15 F250. There's not a chance in holy hell I'd ever consider that. My notes are always in the $500 range.

This is how I feel. What does the Mercedes have that the High Country doesn't? And the High Country is probably just as quiet on the inside.

One man's steak is another man's hash.

My wife and I drive vehicles that are both less than 2 years old and both cost about the same. The payments don't change the way we live nor affect whether we want to go out for dinner or go on vacation. That's the way it should be, IMO.

How about a fit and finish the truck can't come close to? Smooth straight body lines and flawless paint without all that GM orange peel you don't notice until a car with a real paint job pulls along side.

An interior that is not made with Fisher-Price toy plastics

Seats that are twice the comfort of a current GM truck seat.

How about a ride that is smooth and comfortable?

None of that is exclusive to the High Country, so you can compare a $45k silverado to the "prices starting at $64k" Mercedes GL. Is all of what you get in the GL worth $20k more? How about a bed? What about a 12,000 lbs towing capacity? Onstar?

Also, the ride on my truck is very smooth and comfortable....compared to anything full size.

Dual income household.

Do you have a child or a couple of them, if yes then there is one of your answers. For what one of my friends spend per month on his 2 year old he could buy two new trucks and still have some left over for the month. Daycare and food and clothing and toys and the list is never ending and will only get worse and more expensive as they age!

Someone should price a 2500 Diesel High Country.

They actually are not as bad as you'd think.. Believe it or not yukon Denalis are more expensive...

The way I see it, it's supply and demand. If you look at the pricing between the different full size classes, you get more for what you pay for with an HD. There's just more of a demand for the 1/2 tons so they can charge more for one. If you price a 1/2 ton and 3/4 ton both equal other than class then the 3/4 ton isn't a whole lot more, especially for what you get over the 1/2 ton.

Agreed.. The demand for yukon Denalis in my area is insane... I see multiple K2 YD's in my area daily...

If it wasn't for my 3 kids, I bet I could have bought at least 1 Ferrari....and probably a new truck every year too!
