Camper mirrors / DQS option / Any pics?

I've been working with a dealer to build out a new Denali 1500. 4wd, standard bed length, 6.2/8 speed.

There does not appear to be any way to get this truck with 3.42 gearing and the NHT package option is not available. The man I'm working with has been trying to build the truck with the NHT, or 3.42 gears, but just can't do it. He's been building and ordering GMC trucks for the past ten years. I've given up on 3.42 gearing.

I can however order this truck with the "camper mirrors", option code DQS.

Does anyone know if these are the same mirrors that are on the 2500 trucks? Or are they a bit smaller? Anyone have a 1500 truck with these mirrors willing to post a picture?

Reason I'm asking, is I'm just a bit apprehensive to order the truck with these mirrors if they look odd on a 1500 truck. They look like they belong on the larger 2500's, but on a 1500???

I pull an enclosed car hauler around. The standard mirrors are worthless with this trailer. I can see I have trailer behind me, but there's no way I can back it.

Yes same as a 2500hd or 1500 with NHT.

DQS is not available on 1500 Denali per the order guide. SLT and SLE with NHT you can option for the DPN/DQS mirror, and on 2500hd all trims you can option for them. Can't do NHT on a Denali either hence why no 3.42 gears.

Well crap... The guy building the truck did not tell me it could not be ordered with the tow mirrors. I know the NHT package is not available, but it sure is odd that I can't get the 3.42 gears. Looks like I might just have to get them swapped out if the 3.23's prove to be too high. Final drive ratio with the 8 speed and 3.23's is actually better than the 6 speed / 3.42's, but I have not actually towed anything with either, so I can only speculate at this point. I did have a 08 Denali with the previous 6.2 and 6 speed. It never did feel underpowered, but again, I wasn't pulling an enclosed trailer around.

I'm beginning to think I need to just get a 2500 with the DM.

I do not get why GM will not let you put the DQS mirrors on all the models. The stock mirrors in my open are terrible for daily driving let alone towing. I also do not get why they will not publish a bulletin on installing them on 2014's and allow a BCM reflash.

When I ordered my 2015 Sierra 1500. I ordered it with the max trailering option and this is why I ended up with the towing mirrors. I did not like them on the 1500 so I sold them to a member on here. Here is a pic

Eventually they probably will.....they are available more places now then when they were first released.

Was is difficult to put on the regular mirrors? Do they use the same attachment points?

It was a really easy swap. If you have the tow mirrors they require 4 mounting holes where the non tow only require 3 so you end up with an empty hole.

I know I can buy them I want it to be factory and a direct plug and play.

Sorry, I meant GM is installing them more models/trim levels than when they were first offered. I'd bet eventually they will produce the necessary kit to retrofit them.

How noticeable is the extra hole? What is the cost of the regular mirrors? Thanks

You never see the hole its behind the door panel...just a quick drill with a bit and they bolt right up! So far from what I've seen and been told the area where the hole goes is already there just not tapped through. (It's detented all you do is punch it through)

You only need to drill the hole if you have non towing and you are installing towing. If you already have towing then you will only be using 3 of the 4 holes in the door. This is all behind the plastic trim so nothing visible outside the truck.
