Body Lift for 1999 nbs 99-06------Can't you use just any blocks?

Recommended Posts

I've been seeing body lifts all over ranging from $70.00 for S10's to $400 for my 1999 silverado 1500. I just want bigger tires and suspension lifts are way over priced at $1300. Not going to do that so, Body lifts are made from the same plastics and I've seen single blocks being sold for only 3.99 each, but I see the only diff would be bolt hole sizing from like a S-10 to a silverado. right? I mean the only thing I would have to get is grade8 bolts that are longer for mounting. Just something I've been trying to get my head around. I do not like the fact that they want $300 for a silverado body lift and the cheaper of the kits are only 1.5 blocks and I'm use to the 3 in block. So if anyone has done a body lift Homemade or Aftermarket any help would be great, thx Jon

The difference is in the brackets to relocate the bumpers, brakes, and anything else that needs to move. Your not just lifting the body. Your lifting everything attached to it

Yeah but that all things I can fab myself like bumper relocation brackets, I did that on a Tacoma 2wd the only thing I needed for that was the steering shaft ext. I just saw the 1.5 kit again VS the 3 in like you say it has alot more hardware brackets for brake lines etc... I wish I could remeber where I bought that raw stick we cut them down to 3in blocks and drilled the holes through it the only thin that was hard was finding the bolts. I went to every East Coast FL ACE and bought them out, think it was 5 stores in total. cost was only $100 bucks and the Taco's kit was around $400. I'm not looking to buy a kit for every truck just one for the REg. Short Bed less parts = should = less $$$ but they dont sell them like that, shot if I want to not fab brackets they sell the bumper bracket for crazy money but they can be bought. I'm nursing a workers comp knee and have nothing to do but look at the projects I want to do, so I want to get the ducks in a row and buy it and put it on when I get better. I normal don't have the time to even look for the parts. Your truck looks damn good bud. thats about the hieght i'm looking for, thx for the reply!

Just noticed you run the 315/70R16's I have key in mine from factory or the other guy but they are in but I can't clear 33's right know and I what to get about 35's under it I can run as big as the 305/60R18 but they rubbed a little and they come to about 32.4 inches tall I think.

If your able to build all the brackets yourself then zone offroad used to sell just lift blocks. Not sure if they still do tho. The 315/70/16 measured 33.4x12.5 mounted up but that size is no longer available in any tire from what I could find. And for what it's worth they barely cleared.

ok so not really going to get 35's under it with a 3in body lift then. I'm mainly saying these kits online are all for extended cab trucks I cant see paying for parts i'm not putting on the truck. I think there is only 4 3in wide 3in tall blocks for the cab and 4 2in wide 3in tall ones for the bumpers then whatever size metal square tubing that set on the frame for the bed lift. Correct if I'm wrong guys, Thx Jon

Couldn't you put in a 3 or 4 inch block in the back and crank the keys or replace them with larger indexed ones? That would clear a larger tire and be cheap. I put in a 3 inch block and turned the keys and it rides fine, no loping in 4x4, it was easy and safe.

Gone through that already, my truck in the pic at that time and this time has the keys from factory for some kinda lift, they matched the ones I got online and they thought I gave them the wrong truck due to the old or Org. desgin of them. They sent me 2500 keys F3 think the 1500's are C3 keys and I cranked on them but can only clear the 32.4 305/60R18 tires just barley. Suckx they truck has a Durmax Transfer Case has some kinda blocks in the rear from factory....It's a Factory Frankinstein!!!! lol thx tho

How about this guys, I know its been a bit but I just got a lift kit for 88-98 C/K 1500. The blocks are the same but I can't seem to get the bolts to fit, maybe only diff is the bumper brackets and the bolt size? I lol i guess most of the kit, I'm gonna see if ACE can match up the bolts this weekend. but I guess on the 3in body lift I would need steering ext. and thats about it. correct me if I'm wrong on this, but I will get some answers ASAP. it was only $50 buck for the body lift so no huge loss, I blocks would cost that on ebay. let me know what your thinking about this, Thank and open ears!
