2015 Chevy Slate Grey Metallic & GMC Light Steel Gray Metallic

Recommended Posts

I have a slate grey. In some light it looks way more blue than grey. In the evening it definitely looks grey. The pictures by the guy with the first reply do the colors justice. I tried to post a picture of my truck a month ago when I bought it, but I couldn't convert it from my phone to the website. I may try again with my camera and download it to my computer. Perhaps then it will accept my picture. Right now it is overcast so it definitely looks grey. I get a lot of compliments on my new truck and the color. I have even had guys ask me about the color, then blink when I state that it is slate grey, because they are sure that I am going to tell them a blue color.

Those two I posted back in March are still sitting on the dealers lot. I've only seen two on the road. The one back in February, and one just last week. I don't think it is a color that people want to pay a premium for?

It'd be nice of GM had a better gray. Slate gray looks like a flat baby blue color, while tungsten looks like a purple/lavender color with occasional flashes of a nice gray depending upon the ambient light. Neither color is bad, but neither color fills the "gray" slot as well as it should.

I agree. I really liked the Medium Charcoal Gray Metallic from the early 2000's, and Graystone Metallic like my truck. They actually look "Gray" without having different hues depending on the light. GM needs a true Gray color again.

Big Whiskey, I'm with you on the slate grey. A fast talking sales manager almost had me driving one of those off of the show room floor. The truck had everything I was looking for but the color. I ended up spending 2 more weeks shopping around at 6 different Chevrolet dealerships and ordered one exactly like I wanted. A 2015 highly optioned brownstone LTZ Z71 CC with coca dune interior. Not from the fast talking manager either. Lol

I just bought a slate grey metallic, haven't taken delivery yet, the Line X bed liner is being installed. This is a good representation of what it looks like. Like someone said earlier, the hue changes between blue and grey under different lighting conditions. My neighbor has the same color, never washes his truck, yet it always looks clean!
