Installed ADD W1 Oil Catch Can

Recommended Posts

I finished up fabricating my catch can mounting bracket today. I am just waiting for my spare foul air hose to arrive from the USA so I can get the quick connect fittings to do the install.Catch%20can%20bracket.jpg?t=1425948842

Don't mind the finger condoms Ha Ha they are there just to keep the crap out of the can

I know those summers in Red Stick are HOT..... I lived in Denham (Central actually) for awhile while working in BRPO until I went to LaPlace, but grew up near Hammond so I know. Crawfish season is back so it is time to make a trip back home, and in-laws have a camp in Manchac so do a little fishin to. I do miss living down there (always something fun to do) and was actually considering moving back.

Man you hopped all around this mosquito infested oven of an area. Lol.

Yea is time to boil up the ole crawdads and set your lips on fire. Prices are still thru the roof. $3.59 live. Ouch.

I just picked up one of these ADD W1 cans for my 5.3L . Just was wondering what you guys that have them installed are using for the Media Filtering ? I saw at the top of this thread someone was using 3M heavy duty steel wool. Is there anything else worth trying ?

So maybe something is wrong with my motor. This picture is after 50-75 miles of driving. That's ALOT of oil!722bfc7897664e470df7022eaad5922a.jpg

No. Look at the 2nd page and what I caught in about the same time (with media). 1st page shows without media and is alot less. With media it is similar to Rx cans.

I have a repeating reminder on my phone to check it on Saturdays but once a month is a good frequency for my wife's driving time/amount.

I wouldn't use steel wool I used stainless steel perforated mesh and cut the discs to fit the filter

So are you recommending multiple layers of the mesh ... I see in the pic that you have a few laid out ... was not sure if they were spares or they were all going in the can ?

Also if you did multiple layers do you feel it would restrict the vacum from the intake some or does it seem to be doing a good job for you ?

I have four layers of mesh with a 1/8" spacer in between them,(Key Rings) there is no vacuum restriction it flows much better than the stainless steel pot scrubbers.
