My brand new .... old looking truck!

So I just revived my 2015i from the dealership last week. I told them not to wash it. But they said they needed to check for paint defects. So I said ok. As I was planning on bringing it to my detailer to get C.Quartz applied.

 

Upon further inspection my detailer re-washed the truck and found this....

 

 

 

It was that bad all over the truck! He said it had to of been washed with a bristle brush or brillow pad for it to be that bad! But after hard work dedication skill and knowledge my detailer ( spending 8am- 2am Saturday and Sunday and 8am-6am Monday ) brought the new truck back to life!

 

 

With the finish that he did plus C.quartz finest ... the truck looks amazing !

They already know.... we are working to get the detailer more money for his time ..... and yea the detailer did a great job

That's why when I wash my truck I have a separate bucket of clean water just to rinse anything off in and then I put it in the soapy water.

 

Luckily when my dealer washed mine they did it right. They even detailed the inside and made sure to get all the glue crap off the windshield and windows which I didn't think they were going to do that. I bought mine late in the evening so I had to bring it back later in the week for them to wash it so that's kind of why I was surprised they detailed the inside after I had used it for a few days. I'm lucky the dealer right in my town is a good one and haven't had anything bad happen with them.

You know how you spend all kinds of money on those distressed jeans so you can be in style. Well with those jeans and your new distressed truck you are in style. And I am so envious.

The worst thing is, you have a brand new truck, with an already thinner layer of clearcoat!

 

Keep in mind, modern clear coats are roughly 10 microns. By the looks of those scratches, he probably had to take 2 microns off. Polishing IS simply using abrasion to remove the scratched layer and get down to fresh. So, all I can say is try your best to keep anyone from scratching it again. Each time you polish your clearcoat gets thinner.

 

I seriously hate when dealerships wash vehicles. They are only concerned with time, so they use the hard bristle brushes on vehicles. So maddening.

Agree with above. Removing scratches just means thinning the clear around the scratch to the same depth as the scratch.

On my list of things do to when I take my truck to the dealer, Do not wash my truck is at the top of the list. I make sure its written on the invoice, learned my lesson long ago. Dealers have a 5 dollar an hour employee washing a 50K vehicle, you saw the result
