Bouncy idle

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone, having a problem with my 07 silverado. Seems like the Idle is bouncy. It jumps up and down and goes under 500Rpms and sounds like its gonna die or stall sometimes. And when I accelerate there's sometimes a delay and then the truck will start moving and when I let off the accelerator the rpm will drop and then jump up and jolt the truck forward a bit. Any help would be great.

I don't think it's throwing any codes. At first it threw a check engine light on with a code saying its my TPS, erased it cause I wanted to see if it would throw the code and light on again but hasn't. It stalled on me today dropped in the low RPMs and then stalled.

Just a stab in the dark but might consider cleaning the MAF sensor as well, then disconnect the battery for 30 min or so to "reset" things in the computer (just a term I use to get the system back into instant learning mode) and see how it does then.

Sounds good. Make sure you use good MAF sensor cleaner. Residue free. Do not touch the sensor at all. Just spray it, then spray it again, give it some time to dry, hook back up, re-connect battery after it has been disconnected for 30+ min and cross your fingers. Let's see what happens with that, then if that doesn't do anything, we'll try a few other things from suggestions on here.

Update guys! Took off MAF sensor cleaned it diconnected the battery and took off old TPS sensor and cleaned it as well. Put it back on tried to start it and it still was idling funny and bouncy so I swapped out the TPS sensor and it runs real smooth and idles very good with no bounce and hesitation, so far were golden, must if just been a bad sensor. Now next week I'll replace the air filter cause that's pretty much toasted. I appreciate everyone's advice and help.

Thank you everyone.
