AUX switch install

@MikeBMW

Are you looking for the same set up I had. Convert from the three switch to the seven switch? I had tcs, bed lights, hill decent and converted it to those three with 4 aux switches?

Currently, I have only bed light and traction control switches.
Is it possible to replicate your install for this scenario?

I'm interested in this too I would only gain 2 aux switches unless you can bypass hill decent from what I can tell it's a useless button. I have adjustable pedals, t/c, cargo, park assist, hill decent. Also sorry about the large blank space I don't know why it does that and I don't know how to fix it.

@rock1500 It took a bit of work to get them disassembled and put back together. If anyone is interested they can shoot me a PM and I would be happy to look into what it would cost to do. I wasn't sure if there would be a market for it. There is some soldering and de-soldering of some micro components to make it work like it should.

pes10350,

I want to replace the factory 3-switch panel with the OEM 6-switch panel (no hill descent).

Why do you say there is some desoldering and soldering? Can you please elaborate?

My only challenge is to find the connector pins so that I can add my 4 new wires to the 18 pin connector. Did you not buy these pins to add your new circuits?

@cmartiniii, I think there is some confusion. I was talking about creating a new switch panel for trucks that have TCS, Bed lights, and Hill decent. Based on my research that combo doesn't exist with those three plus 4 aux switches. I still haven't tackled using or wiring the 4 aux switches.

My post just mentioned taking parts from two switch banks and making one that will work in my truck with those three original options.

@MikeBMW, I think GM Vehicle Stability Control Switch 84347196 would work out the box? You would still have the blank plate. You would need to get wires from the 4 aux switches to the engine bay. I haven't tackled that part of the project yet.

Since my truck isn't prewired for the aux switches. I am planning on ordering pins and running 4 wires to the engine bay to a dedicated relay/fuse block. So anytime the switch is pressed it will complete the ground on the circuit. That's my plan but I haven't gotten around to it yet.

Thanks, I'll check it out!
I just purchased one, I'll update later!

Instead of buying gm 13575782 pins with wires and putting them in the x1 connector pins 10-14 for the aux switches, my truck originally just has the T/C, HDC, and cargo lamp switches, the x1 has wiring in pin 2 indicator dimming control, pin 5 lane departure, pin 7 standing lamp relay control, pin 8 lane departure warning disable switch signal, and pin 15 adjustable pedal rearward switch signal, and since the truck does not have these options, couldn't I just move the pins over and cut the wires and use them for my relay ground control?? Thanks for the help

Thanks, @pes10350! I installed the GM Vehicle Stability Control Switch 84347196 and, doing the replacement, I realized all of the pins to the auxiliary option connection was already wired with a panel under the dash by the brake pedal. I noticed when I installed a few items I had a number of auxiliary fuses in the fuse box - now I know why - it was pre-wired for the aux switches, best I can tell.
I did purchase pre-wired leads from @pgamboa but it seems I won't be needing them.
Now, time to get the rest figured out.
First thing I want to do is put the under hood light on an Aux switch so if I want to keep my hood open, the light won't stay on.
(Guess I could figure out how to activate only at night but I'm not that smart)

Hi there, I’ve been working on a comprehensive video on all of this with part numbers and explanations, diagrams etc. you have a few options that are pretty easy since you don’t have adjustable pedals. I just got my new X50A (under hood fuse box) in the mail and found a new relay for a second fuel pump. The reason I bought it was for the four AUX/Upfitter relays. This would be perfect for your application. If you can hang in there a few more weeks I’ll have everything complete and post the video.

Mr. Fox,

I am late to this modification and extend my appreciation for you, Mr. Gamboa and other contributors have made.  Your old X50A looks similar to mine on 2015.5 GMC Sierra 1500 (P/N 23285566), I am curious if you encountered air bag reported faults as described here:  GM MSB DRVR/PASS AIR BAG FAULT (service air bag message on startup and air bag warning light) when you installed the new X50A?  Your old X50A and mine have 40A J-Case fuses in positions 5 (MSB DRVR) and 9 (MSB PASS) whereas your new one and mine (P/N 84303175) do not.  Couldn't find much on MSB, but from the few links I did find MSB = Motorized Seat Belt.  In the 2018 Upfitters Electrical Manual both positions marked "Not Used".  I guess the worst thing is I can install and see if I get those same faults reported and take it from there.

Unfortunately it looks like @TinkeringFox hasn't been back for almost 2-1/2 years so I don't think you will get much help from that member. Maybe someone else will come along to help answer your post...

<sigh>  Hopefully.  Maybe.  In mean time, I think I'll throw the new X50A and see what kinda of illumination occurs on my cluster.  😕  Thanks for the response Mike.

I purchased the GM  13575783 wire kit to use for the Aux upfitter switches so I could install an LED light bar. The wire ends do not fit into the connector body. Anyone else have this issue with a 2016 Silverado?

GM Upfitter Integration Body Builder Manual, 2016 Silverado/Sierra, page 1199.  "S48A Multifunction Switch - Instrument Panel X1" shows terminated lead as part number 13575782 (see attachment).  Not sure if the size of the terminal is different than that of 13575783 you purchased.  Service terminal part number is not provided.  Picture of item shown on GM Parts Direct and the like appear to be the same for both part numbers and of course there is no additional helpful information.

The 2015 Upfitter Manual  page 698 shows the service terminal part number as 928999-5.  I have no idea if this is the terminal found on the GM Multi-Purpose Wire Connector items.  This terminal part number is not available individually from Mouser Electronics, as they state the terminal is obsolete.  DigiKey Electronics site part number for this terminal is 5-928999-5 at $0.10 a piece LINKY HERE.

I have not completed this mod yet nor did I purchase the GM wire connector items so am not able to offer more than the above.

Thank you for this info. Frustrating trying to figure out terminal type and size. Hard to find specs for the terminals. Wish the DigiKey site had an image for reference. Will keep my fingers crossed.

Absolutely frustrating for sure.  I am going through this thread yet one more time.  Digikey does have the information you seek, it is not so obvious to acquire as can be on Mouser Electronics.  I had to select the 'EDA Models' hyperlink "5-928999-5 by SnapEDA" which brought me to SnapEDA web site.  On it, I selected 'See Datasheet PDF" on the left side.

I went to Mouser and searched using the same part number, 5-928999-5.  LINKY HERE.  Below is the datasheet.
