AUX switch install

Recommended Posts

  • 4 weeks later...

Would like to share some pictures of where I ended up putting my aux switches at. I have one before picture. The rest is after. I didn’t like the idea of the switches being low on the knee panel.

so I will be rewiring and hardwiring the full kit in. Cause this kit is really made for 2019 and up. My truck is a 2017 2500hd Denali diesel. So all my factory uplifted switches are spoken for all factory features.

Hi there, I’ve been working on a comprehensive video on all of this with part numbers and explanations, diagrams etc. you have a few options that are pretty easy since you don’t have adjustable pedals. I just got my new X50A (under hood fuse box) in the mail and found a new relay for a second fuel pump. The reason I bought it was for the four AUX/Upfitter relays. This would be perfect for your application. If you can hang in there a few more weeks I’ll have everything complete and post the video.

Tinkeringfox, did you ever post a youtube video on this (as referenced above?) thanks..

Hello. I’m a new guy here in the forum. I have a 2015 and a 2016 Silverado 1500 WT’s. I am installing a dual battery system to run a power sprayer rig setting in the bed, and I am looking to install the GM switch with 4 auxiliary switches to turn power on and off to the sprayer. I noticed that the J block behind the parking brake pedal for the switches is not there, but there are flat pins sticking up from where it would be. Probably a silly question but I’m a novice at this stuff, but does that mean if I get the J block the wiring for the J block is already there to the respective relays, etc.? Or would I have to run the wires through to the relays and fuse boxes? I know the wires from the J block to the switches come with it.

 Thanks in advance.

OK.  got a few switch banks and combined switches to match my options.  Now I've got to pin out the connector to figure out what's what.  Once I know which pins cover which functions I'll be able to hook everything up correctly.  It was a real nightmare getting the switches out of the housing.  My final configuration is all momentary switched with a board from GM part number 23145202.  It originally had pedals, stability, cargo lights, park assist, lane keep, hill assist, and exhaust brake.  I don't have lane keep, hill assist or exhaust brake as options on my truck, so I replaced those with three aux switches.  I think it's going to be a bit of work to figure out the pin outs.  It looks like every version varies some, but I'm hoping that there's some commonality at least with the options I do have.  That way those items should work just like before when i plug in the new switch bank.  I just have to figure out which pins go to the other three switches now and if there are led returns.  I know the exhaust brake is going to be on the smaller connector on the back, so it's just aux 1 and 2 I need to identify.

I'm hoping the pin out looks like this

Pin function Note
1

LED Backlight Dimming Control

2

LED Indicator Lights Dimming control

I hope this powers the indicator LEDs on the three aux switches too

I have the same switch layout with pedal adjustment, traction controll, cargo lights and park assist and I want to add 3 aux switches. I know I need to order another switch set and combine them but do I need to order any other wiring harnesses or anything else to make this work?

Not personally, but a buddy of mine installed one.  He likes it.  Hardest part was feeding the cable through the firewall into the cab.  Most of the wiring is done for you, which is REALLY nice.  No wire crimping, if you don't want to do it.

I Just completed a breakdown of the switch bank. I have a 2016 1500 Z71 with the three switch panel, TCS, Bed Light, Hill Descent Control. I bought two additional switch banks and opened them to create one that would work for me. Now I have one working bank with TCS, Bed, Light, Hill Descent control, and 4 aux switches.

@rock1500 It took a bit of work to get them disassembled and put back together. If anyone is interested they can shoot me a PM and I would be happy to look into what it would cost to do. I wasn't sure if there would be a market for it. There is some soldering and de-soldering of some micro components to make it work like it should.

Heck, if you can replicate this on a regular basis, I'd buy it in a heartbeat!

@MikeBMW

Are you looking for the same set up I had. Convert from the three switch to the seven switch? I had tcs, bed lights, hill decent and converted it to those three with 4 aux switches?
