Not a truck problem, cruze heat won't work

I have a cruze, it's a 2012 with 65k miles and progressively the heat has been getting weaker and weaker. At this point I could let it idle for 2 hours and it will still be blowing cold but when you rev it it blows hotter air, but if you start coasting while driving it will get cold or lukewarm. Any ideas as to what this could be? Heater core going out?

Water pump, t-stat, coolant outlets way way too common on Cruze. Specifically 1.4 turbo. If the water pump is leaking, there is a special coverage policy for replacement on it, 10 years or 150,000 miles. Chances are yours would be covered under powertrain.

Haven't heard of this problem yet. Not sure if anyone over on the Cruzetalk.com forums could help you out or not? There is a lot of info on the Cruze over there. Probably the most out of all the Cruze Forums.

I am member over there but I forget my username and password! I'm gonna have some make some time to inspect for leaks and check the coolant.. I remember seeing a recal for something to do with low coolant. It is a 1.4 too

Oh okay. Yea my Wife's had a leaky waterpump replaced at around 60k miles. I think it's leaking again, need the dealer to check it out. Coolant level dropping has been an issue on both of our Cruze's. Hopefully your not in for a bunch of issues. My Wife's started being a problem child at the 60k mile mark.

Yes.. Aparently there was an open recall for the coolant level being low, or the low coolant light coming on... The light has never come on but I checked the Coolant when it was cold and hot and it it was definatley low... The dealer said all they do check to see if the water pump is leaking and fill it back up... I haven't noticed any leaking so I refilled the coolant and we'll see it it disappears, if that happens it's going to the dealer. But anyway filling the Coolant made the heat work like new... So who knows!
