SLAY15
I bought my new Silverado in December and the compass quit working the same day. on the DIC it reads CAL. I took it in they said the antenna was filled with water and needed replaced. they had to order one and a week later they replaced it. back to working like it should. that was about 3 weeks ago. Now the red light is on for the Onstar, No connectivity and the compass is not working again. Just scheduled an appointment to take it back in next week. redwngr
Ours still haven't missed a beat. Got remote link set up to read each vehicle -- kinda neat to be able to get vehicle status when the vehicle is miles away.

Magoomba
Finally got my module in and took it to the dealer for replacement. Only took them a couple of hours to do the repair, along with my 4WD transfer case issue repair (see the recent Service 4WD thread) and it's been working fine all afternoon and evening. Here's what the service order reads: "Corrected by Communication Interface Module Replacement; Check for OnStar not connecting; Had DTC S BIOIB 3C and F0; Found PIT5236B to control unit hardware internal failure; Call GM TAC case # 71-1420837058; Ordered communication interface module; replaced and programmed and setup" The service manager said he would contact OnStar to make sure I get 2 months added on to my trial. pm26
It the shop 6 days to tell me the module is on back order. That's a sure proof that many of these modules are failing.
morrislee
GUYS, please ask them to check the antenna splitter wire, I think that was the name they called it, it should be the antenna wire that has the dual purpose for both GPS and Cell connection. Get them to look at that first, that is how they fixed mine for now!
rocknfire
Checking the antanna with a test antanna is part of the trouble shooting procedure that GM has the tech do.
Andie
**Update** Antenna (the little sharkfin on top) replaced today and GPS, Navi and compass are working as they should! 2015 GMC Sierra Denali Edited February 13, 2015 by Andie
Jimmyc!
I contacted my GM dealer to set up an appointment. I explained what OnStar told me, known issue, and what I've read online. When I asked if I was the first at this dealership the tech said he hadn't heard of this issue. Looking forward to Monday to see what they have to say. At least now I know why the onstar app doesn't work.
GM Truck Family Man
It has been 4 weeks and they are still waiting for the OnStar module. I can't figure out why it takes so long for GM to get the part out to owners affected by this. Mostly I miss the compass on the DIC and on the navigation system. Since I had the truck 2 days when this started I haven't even tried the 4G WiFi.

Since I had the truck 2 days when this started I haven't even tried the 4G WiFi. It was over 6 weeks for my module to arrive. When I called OnStar to reactivate and told them what happened, and that I missed nearly two months of my free trial, they extended it by 2 months, no questions asked. However, I've still not been able to reactivate my 4G wifi. The OnStar tech said that a different tech would be calling me within the next few days to reset it. Haven't had that call yet...
