Talk about a little pucker factor this morning

Had to come into work today for OT (joys of working for an electric utility company and being an essential employee) and was coming in via the highway. Was just spitting a little drop of rain every 5 seconds or so. I get about half way to the office and see a 2 vehicle roll over (both) accident on the highway/service road. In that instant the road went from dry to black ice.

I didn't change any input on the gas pedal but just like that the back end started to come around. Countered the skid (at 60mph) and stabilitrak kicked in. Got the truck under control and locked into 4wd and crept along at 30 mph all the rest of the way in. Every time I would ease into the gas the truck would just start drifting sideways.

Talk about a little of a pucker factor at 6am in the morning.

Moving around the world with Uncle Sam has taught me many things, one of them is how much I love the Tampa FL area! Yes we pretty have early summer, hot as hell summer, hot summer, and the kind cool summer as the seasons, but I have not had a experience yet that when going out to work, shop, etc in which I was going to get into a wreck due to ice or snow! Be safe out there!

Hey, i grew up just east of Tampa. Moved to east Tennessee about 6 years ago. Learning to drive in some ice and snow in a 2wd truck with no traction control was fun! You just have to duck hurricanes down there on occasion. 2004 was fun..

That's nothing. My best friend works as a correctional officer and works the night shift. He was coming home after a snow storm we had over night. At the time him and his wife didn't have the '06 Sierra they have now so he was driving home in their '03 Mustang. It has TC but being so light all around and worse in the rear TC didn't seem to help. Luckily he has good throttle control and he didn't have any pucker factors until the last turn to his old house where he fishtailed. KEep in mind that it's about a 25-30 minute ride on small highways. Ever since my old 98 I can't go without 4x4 and my first truck/vehicle was 2wd. I just like the extra security and this '14 is the first truck I've had that has any electrical assist and the auto 4x4 which I keep it in regular 2wd. The auto 4x4 will come in handy when the snow has started to melt where some parts of the roads are dry or just wet while other parts still have snow and ice in the intersections and hills.
