How is the mobil1 "Advanced Fuel economy" full synthetic 0w-20? Every once in a while costco has the 6 quarts from 38 to 28. Or should I be using a different mobil1.

If you can get it for a good price then that is what I would use. It's a good oil.

It's what I have been using primarily. It's a pretty commonly used oil over at Bob is the oil guy forums.

This is a comparison a couple of friends and I did a few years back. Both of these guys swore by each brand of oil and never swayed to any other brand of oil. I also have always used RP in every vehicle I have ever owned. I also use the transmission fluid/filter.

All of the trucks I have owned including a Porsche Carrera and Viper I currently own use nothing but RP. The cars and trucks all average about 15 degrees cooler operating temps and the trucks I have owned/own have picked up an average of 1.5MPG increase.

These pics speak for themselves.

Mobil 1 for sure.

Why change.

Gave me 286,000 flawless miles in my '98 Silverado.

I'll bet that camshaft was in pretty darn good condition too. :)

Of those two cams pictured... one could have just as easily had inferior surface hardening over the other... the oil used likely didn't mean a thing to the wear pattern developed on the Mobil 1 run engine. By the damage on that cam I would bet money it's a surface hardness problem.... I have seen a lot cams in my life and in 40000 miles running bargain basement bobs dino oil the surfaces should not look that poor.

These pictures are the real deal. Both owners are good friends of mine and each of these cars were being torn down to be built to pro stock. We thought we'd try to put to rest the continuous arguments over which oil is best or not.

Your comment just shows that no matter what type of physical, scientific or WHATEVER evidence can be presented that some people will never be swayed.

To each his own ....... use whatever you like. I do. :D

No evidence or science behind it. You pulled cams out of 2 engines from different model year Mustangs, tossed them on a table and said yep, the oil screwed that one over. That's about as unscientific and inconclusive as you can possibly get. It looks bad for Mobil, however, if you dont verify correct oiling on that cylinder head or the hardness of the cams finish... you didnt prove anything. I don't even run Mobil 1... I have no loyalty to oil... just like vehicles.
