kstruckcountry
What will happen is a WRX will pull up with snow tires and roast you both. Last time I saw an H1 on 37's, that's a pretty cool snow vehicle IMO.

Last time I saw an H1 on 37's, that's a pretty cool snow vehicle IMO. H1s are/were the only real hummer, never could stand the H2 and H3. What I could never understand is what made the H1s so expensive (the consumer version of course, not the military Humvee). I might be remembering wrong but I think they cost as much as the C6 Corvette ZR1. If it cost more like a fully loaded Escalade then I would understand, but 6 figures I just could never understand. I guess it was like some supercars or other cars that are limited that the only way the company can make any profit is to ask more.
SnakeEyeSS
I have the 3.7 in my Mazda 6, it was actually the first car to get that generation of the Duratec I think (272 HP and 269 TQ), next was the MKS Lincoln, the only ford to get the 3.7 was the Mustang. Its a beast, was the most powerful and fastest V6 in the midsizers for several years until Honda bummped the HP rating a few points. The Taurus, though, weight close to a 1000 pounds more than a 6 so.... Still waiting for someone to bring the Mustang ECU programming to the 6 so I can get that extra 30 HP it magically has. They are on a completely unique chassis, vs the h2/h3 which are hd/colorado chassis. h1 has independent rear suspension, and what are essentially "IFS portals". The CV shaft goes into a gearbox on the hub. The diffs are pretty tough as well (looking at this last night), and I believe they fit 37" tires bone stock. They are easily the toughest and most off road capable consumer vehicle GM has ever made. They have well over a foot of clearance IIRC and can ford deep water. The 2006 "alpha" had a dmax and allison, they are the most expensive. You don't want to know. That said, on snowpacked roads I'd rather be in my pickup or a car Just thought it was cool. Colossus
Having owned 3 P71 Clown Vics (Police Interceptors) and living in Colorado, I can say this much for certain... They will do ok in the mountains, but the Clown Vic was outdated engine and performance wise back when the 4.6L was first put in it in 1992. The 3.5L Taurus will easily outperform your 4.6L Vic in the mountains. It is faster in top speed, 0-60, and the 1/4 mile. The only thing you have the advantage of is more leg room. chevyguy45
I know they aren't the best performance wise but they run a lot better than a 92. I've been on patrol since 1991. They have had a few upgraded like much better flowing heads in 2001 different air intake in 2004 and pretty good upgraded handling wise in 2003. I know he has a 2.73 axle ratio and the vic has an optional 3.55. If it's gonna be bad I'll just take the caddy which he also thinks is slow. The only good thing I can say about my CV is that's it's tough. Ill be glad when they finally get to outfitting Tahoes for the supervisors. chevyguy45
We're switching to chargers. We've actually had some for awhile and they've been very reliable. We prefer sedans over the suvs.

We prefer sedans over the suvs. We tested the Just about everything and they're all too small. From the looks of things, the Tahoes are going to be the prevailing unit in south east Texas at least. chevyguy45
They don't have the room of the vic but the charger is wider out of the sedans the caprice seems to be the longest and the Taurus is definitely the smallest feeling on the inside. Ford tried to say the Taurus was just as big as the vic on the inside but it's not.
02suburbanZ71
I've driven many police crown vics and taurus's and the vic seems to have much better throttle response and the taurus seems to be a little slow with the ETC. if you punch it off the line you'll see what im talking about

Colossus
That has never been my expereience except for my 95 I owned which did ok off the line.. Sadly most of the departments around here are switching over to the Explorer. My local County department is doing so and phasing out the chargers They like them because of the room and the AWD. I think they would be much happier with the Tahoes but they only use those for K9 and as a few 4X4s.
