Heated steering wheel

I haven't looked yet, but I assume that X203 block disconnects (unplugs) before you try to push that wire into an empty terminal location?

Yes. It will pop off with a Christmas tree clip and make it possible to work on. It’s tricky to get it out so you can pull the connector down.

Got my heated wheel installed yesterday, thanks to the video tutorial on here and a big thanks to @pgamboa who helped with some technical questions and made me a wiring harness. I have a 2016 LTZ that had the factory heated wheel plug under the dash (steering column) but it was not live. pgamboa made me a harness to connect from the X51L block to the X203 block that worked perfectly.

Now that it is installed, it's great having a warm wheel on these cold Nebraska mornings. I will say, I do actually prefer the texture of the non-heated leather wheel vs. the texture of the heated one, but am glad to have the heat.

I do now have a non-heated leather wheel and the accompanying clock spring for sale if anyone is looking ;)

Okay, I have no idea where the x203 block is lol! I see in the electronic service manual X201, but I searched the entire electronic service manual and can't find any thing labeled X203.:banghead: I feel like I am taking crazy pills!!!!

It's right above the BCM module located under the kick panel.

I'm new to the site, did all research through this thread and upgraded heated wheel on my 2016 Silverado Lt. I do not have adjustable pedals and found the 2-pin hot and ready to plug and play. Installed and works great.  thanks everyone

50/50 mix of Dexcool and distilled water. I just use regular water from a tap. Never had problems with it. You could buy it premixed or mix it yourself. Don’t know how that post made it onto the heated steering wheel thread though [emoji33]

Thought I was seeing things myself. Maybe “heated” somehow got him to this thread. Lol

Sounds like almost everyone has the 2 pin connector installed (sometimes hot, sometimes not).  I did not have one installed at all.  My hot steering wheel heat line, dead ended in the next connector.  So for anyone that is missing the two pin connector (like me), that plugs into the new heated clock spring....here are the 2 pin connector parts

http://www.te.com/usa-en/product-1563190-1.html

pins

http://www.te.com/usa-en/product-964267-2.html

I ordered them here

https://www.mouser.com/ProductDetail/TE-Connectivity/1563190-1?qs=%2fha2pyFadujD%2f3KmgcXj70hoq1YL8GIylTyIz%2fVKv6A%3d

pins

I made it simple and just spliced into the hot steering wheel heat line in the back of the fuse box (and a ground line).  I didn't bother installing a pin in the other connector.

Works great!  Thanks to all....especially the YouTube vid!

Ok, so after reading the 20+ pages of responses, I still am a little nervous tackling this project. I have a 2015 silverado 2500 with everything in the wheel but the heated wheel itself. I have the crash BS but the spot where the heater button would be is blank. I’ve gathered that I need a new wheel and a clock spring.  With all the options in my truck can anyone tell me if this will be a simple install like the earlier video posted? Also, the part number for the clock spring I read is unavailable. Is there a new part number for that?  Is it any different than that of the 1500?  Hoping for some guidance.

For anyone that is performing this upgrade and finding that they don’t have the clock spring mate down in the footwell to plug into, or they have they the mate but it’s not hot, here is a video I made showing the harness I’ll be making and will be available for $25, Shipped anywhere in the US.

Great forum,loads of information.

Question concerning the difference between

the 2500 Heated Steering wheel & the 1500.

Does anyone know why the 2500 won’t work if you get the 1500 heated clock Spring?

Purchased the Clock Spring, and having trouble getting the heated wheel without

the crash of course ?. My truck 2016 SBCC Z71 2/LT

Would Appreciate any answer please. Thanks all.
