Gas Pedal Flex Solution

FL335i

Recommended Posts

All of y'all that performed this fix must be contortionist. It took me forever and just about killed me, but I Got-R-Done. And, I'm so glad that I did. There was a lot of flex before, but now it is rock solid. The improvement in throttle response was HUGH!

For all of y'all sitting on the fence, I highly recommend it.

Ditto on the thanks to FL335i for bringing this to everyone's attention.

Wow, been reading all the post and my new 2016 also has the same flex issue! I will be fixing it when I get back home. This crap is not cool and the amount of play it has on a NEW truck!

*** I used a washer and 3M double sided sticky trim tape I have in my tool box, placed it in right in the back and no more play behind the plastic/ peddle play. This should be a sticky and thanks again for bringing this up! I would have never noticed or found out about it. The throttle response is noticeable, that little bit of play did make a diffenrece when applying the gas.

Found this thread while browsing forum earlier today, checked gas pedal in my truck. It had the flex issue. Grabbed a paint brush from garage, cut the handle, wedged it in, and incredible difference. Truck reacts like it should have from factory, instead of guessing when sensor in pedal would pick up when being depressed.

Motorized pedals, no flex, no problem.....in fact 10 mos. and no complaints at all! VIN begins with "1", Hecho in USA.....not like my former POS Avalanche(s).

Glad my type A self found out about this 2+yrs ago. I honestly thought my idea/post was going to be chastised when I did this. But after driving two BMW's for years and then going to the K2xx in '14.... It was like going from a drug fueled 24/7 rave to a retirement home bingo game, in the gas pedal department.

i went outside, saw the flex, went inside, got a painters stick, broke it in 2 pieces 1" long, wedged under the gap on the bottom, holy shit, i cant believe it. i have motorized pedals 2016 1500. there is more play left and right and a little front and back on the assembly. but now there feels like there is no more play at all.

thanks for upping this thread where i would see it. when i see you at the bar, ill buy a round!
