04 gmc 2500hd short bed lenght vs a 1500 short bed

im looking to get a cap for the bed on my 04 2500hd short bed. i found a used cap online in the same color. its for a short bed 1500. the guy told me it wont fit. is that true? any help would be great. thanks.

A 2500 short bed is like a regular bed on a 1500.

If the guys truck was a crew cab 1500 then it will not fit. If he had a regular cab or extended cab then it should fit. There was a rare run of 5'8" extended cabs in 2006-2007. All 04-07 crew cab 1500's were 5'8". If he has the 6'6" bed, then it will fit. GM used the same physical bed on all the trucks in that range if the sizes were the same. All long beds used the same 8 ft and all short/regular used the same 6'6". As lI said before, If it isnt the 5'8" bed then it will fit

it was for a 1500 crew cab. thats why it wouldnt fit my 2500. thanks for the info
