Bilstein 5100 adj shocks (front and rear)

I called and asked why they did boot up instead of down, and was told the factory ranchos were boot up, so they installed them to match. I think I've got access to all the tools I'll need to swap them out. Going in for an alignment in the morning, so far ride is much improved and its level to the naked eye. I'm pleased with them.

Mechanic said he put them boot up to match the ranchos, I took his word for it. I look under the truck after work, the boots are facing down lmao!

Edit, thought I posted a pic lol

Damn I wish that was my case. Kinda want to tear a boot off to see what the shock looks like. You look at fox or icons read shocks and its clearly supposed to go one way

I know this has been discussed where is the best place to buy these currently

Get the pet numbers for your truck then do a good search. The prices change almost daily I've found.

That's what I did. Lots of sites popped up. I just found the best deal and went with it.

  • 2 weeks later...

I have been rolling around for 2 weeks with the 5100 at the max height setting and today had time to take it into my mechanic to have the 5100 snap rings dropped one level it makes all the difference in the world you have the max height setting my front end would actually bunny hop over small speed bumps at 8 miles an hour now it handles fantastic

Just wondering how much lift you got with the adjustables on the second from max setting?

I think the second to highest notch is 1.75" IIRC. Though I love mine on 1.85. And got exactly that much height in the front. I will agree small bumps it bunny hops over but the larger ones like rail road tracks and turn roads on the farm it glides through. Speed bumps are just speed bumps to me but I ease over.

But hey depending on your need you might not need max height. My little brothers friend just got a 2015 black crew cab Chevy LTZ and he only needs maybe an inch in the front if that to be level.

Best to measure. My truck is perfect to me. I have an inch of rake for towing, it looks level to the naked eye, and rides better than my ranchos or my brothers 2" spacer kit.
