rdnckhntr94's 2014 Silverado High Country Build

Well on my 02 I had slotted and DIMPLED, not drilled rotors. Those were still on there to the day I sold it, around 60k miles on them. I get what you're saying about the drilled portion of the rotors getting cracked, I've heard that before as well. Only time will tell but I can definitely say that they have made an improvement to my braking distance (although that could just be the pads)

Welcome back! I remember you moved to England and got a VW then left us lol

Yep, good thing I did sell the truck, though miss it dearly, cause these roads can be horrible. There are a few people here on base that drive big lifted dodges and fords, maybe one GMT800 lifted, and seeing these tight roads, I'm pretty sure they only drive from base to home lmao. That, and these roads kill American cars quickly.

I've towed a good bit since I put them on, and I've had to slam on the brakes a few times and I don't feel any steering wheel shimmy from what would be a warped rotor. They improved the pedal feel greatly and the stopping power is also a lot better, helps slow these 33's down as if I had stock size tires. Great investment so far!

How thick are they? Same thickness as stock?

Nothing major, just riveted a piece of flat bar in the toolbox so the magnetic work light could stick somewhere. Had the flat bar already, so it only cost me $15 for the light (thank you Amazon prime) lol

Also added a tool set from Harbor Freight, $160 with the 20% off coupon. Has almost everything you need besides a decent set of wrenches

I would take pics of the truck since I just cleaned it but there are just so many rock chips on this truck, really pisses me off that GM can't get the paint right and it's 2016

I really wish I could just trade it in on a gmt800 with an LBZ dmax in it, at least my 02 with 367k had better paint than this thing

I'm seriously considering never washing this thing again because everytime I do I find two more rock chips. This paint is absolute junk. I did but an extended warranty with the truck so I wonder if they'll cover paint chips considering they are mostly on the bedside, idk how rocks even hit there

I felt the same way every time I would wash either one of my past GMT900's or my Cruze. I just quit washing the Cruze because it's so irritating. My brother's 07 GMT800 paint is nearly flawless. It's crazy how good the paint was back then compared to now. Edited by Daryl Z71

I'm still in search of an LBZ truck, should probably wait until around this time next year cause that's when I'll be looking to buy

Red, how do you like your Volant?

I am torn between the Volant and the Cold Air Industries that Lew sells and recommends. There's a $100 price difference between the two tho. I really don't like $400 for an intake LOL.

The Volant in combo with my diablosport tuner is awesome. The Volant is louder almost as loud as a mild exhaust but if you can live with the noise (only when getting in it, it's quiet while cruising) then go for it! I got mine for $280 and I like that I don't have to change my filter for 100k miles (went with the Donaldson dry filter) plus now I can reach an easier ground on the alternator for when I jump other vehicles

Found out I have an open recall on my truck but GM hasn't come out with a fix for it yet. Thinking I should take my truck to the body shop first, get all that stuff fixed, then take it to them and they can warranty the paint chips from there. This is why I like old trucks with already bad paint jobs, don't feel like I have to maintain them like I do this one lol

I got talked a different route so I didn't get the Volant. Dang does it make the engine throaty! Wait until you add an exhaust to yours! My Borla now growls when I get on it. It wasn't as deep until I got the intake installed.
