no "break in "intervals in the owners manual because its not nessessary ,,,,,,,

regular intervals ARE in there ,

dumping oil early is an old wives tale

False. Not all the intervals are in the manual. I kept looking but none are there for the differential fluids. I know it's not a fluid that you don't change over the life of the vehicle. Until I get an answer in a service book I will do it every 50k

Rear calls for syn I have plenty of 80w90 dino oil for the front diff. And yeah that's what's recommended on the trans is 100k

If you live in cold climate area use the 75w-90 synthetic in the front also

I wont touch the diffs or transmission until 100k more than likely. Got 14k on the truck now and runs great. Oil gets changed every 5-7.5k miles with Mobile 1 full synthetic and a new AC Delco filter.

Transmission should be done around 50,000. Differentials you can go 75,000 or more if you don't tow much. Transfer case around the same time.

With that being said, I did all of this on my 2007 and I still had to do transmission work at 85,000 miles that cost me $2,200 in repairs. My dad hasn't done anything on his 2004 suburban except change oil and he has 115,000 flawless miles.

Do what you like with your money.

It says for normal service the trans can go 100k but I'm a bit uneasy with that. I think maybe I'll do diffs, tcase, and trans all at 50k just so my entire drivetrain is always done all at once

50k sounds like a good point. Our Cruze's say 45k for the transmission. Had the Wife's done a bit late at 60k though. Dealer told us 100k, but I'm not buying that.

Sounds like they just want it to break right after the warranty goes out so they make a bunch of money off of it

Yea my thought too. Were going to have a throwdown over this surging problem her car is having too. They're not waiting until it's out of warranty to figure it out that's for sure.

The first line fascinates me. The dealer warranties the power train for 5yrs/100,000 miles and doesn't recommend any service for our trans/diffs till ~98,000 miles. If the manufacturer that warranties the vehicle stands behind the service intervals and steps I wonder what engineering background you have or statistical analysis you've performed that empirically tells you doing anything else has any actual benefit.

It is painful to my brain to (hint) watch how much engineering and testing they do on these parts just to have the general inter web know-it-alls invent their own maintenance schedules

You know what you don't see much or read on these forums? How many guys followed their dealer/service manual instructions exactly and still have major problems.
