Silverado brake upgrades?

Recommended Posts

Has anyone experimented with upgrades to the braking system on NNBS trucks?

My 2011 has always felt a little bit spongy, and I would like to finally do something about it. Is new rotors and pads simply enough, or do I need to be swapping brake lines and front calipers too? What can be done to the drum setup on the rear to get more stopping power out of it?

I figure now is the time to do it before the truck has bigger tires. Once that comes, I will need the extra braking power anyways.

Willwood big brake kit, Baer Big brake kit, brembo big brake kit you see where this is going. You could throw on some better performing rotors and ebc or hawk brake pads but really you want the steel braided lines and bigger piston/more piston brakes with giant rotors.

Without spending big money, decent pads and rotors with stainless braided lines. Otherwise your looking at $1300 an axle minimum for larger brake kits.

I am looking to upgrade the brakes as well. Replies May help LaserBlueZ71 as well.

Al ittle different issue and i hope to recieve good technical replies.

2003 2500HD, very very heavy and that wont change so here I go... 10.5k lbs

I have recently just repacked the the rear springs and it rights nice. Stopping is different.

I am have the Banks Exhaust kit put on thursday, but I need help in the actual brake system.

Without the expensive after market kits I am thinking of just swapping out the 2500HD front caliper, cage and rotor for 3500HD.

IS THIS A GOOD PRACTICAL IDEA ??

The 2003 3500 caliper does bolt right up. I cant seem to find the size of the rotors for 3500. I am hoping some can tell me the larger rotor and cage will bolt up as well...

Positive feed back welcomed.

Thank you
