Cylinder 6 Misfire - Injector ?

Recommended Posts

2014 SLT Crew Std Box with the 5.3 and 5855 miles on the clock.

Monday 22nd...the Engine started to run rough after a 50 mile round trip, CEL flashing, limped it a few more miles home on back roads. GM Roadside assistance towed it to a local dealer in RI on Tuesday morning. Got a call this afternoon saying that the cylinder 6 misfire was due to a bad injector, probably since day 1. They were working on the truck Tuesday PM but couldn't figure out the misfire until today.

Parts will be in tomorrow, hopefully driving my truck before 4 PM. In the meantime, they put me in a 2011 Acadia Denali loaner with 75k on the clock and this thing is beat to hell...

Has anyone heard about injectors being an issue? How long until the other 7 go out or is this just an isolated junk injector?

I travel over 30k every year, mostly in the winter, refereeing hockey throughout the northeast. I bought this truck to be sure I get there regardless of miles or weather conditions. Honestly I am a little nervous at this point and I do not have my truck back yet to reassure me.

Just looking for any insights. Been a GM guy since my 96 sunfire, 2004 1500, 2013 1500 that I hated with a passion, and my current 2014 which is the most enjoyable vehicle I've owned, when it runs... Also have a 91 vette to boot...I love this truck but I'm traveling 3+ hours this weekend and next and I am wondering if I should take the vette.

Thanks,

Mike

Just had this issue when I rolled over 11,000 miles. Although my issue turned out to be a bad spark plug, took them 3 days to diagnose that even. I have definitely lost confidence in my truck as well.

Also had a similar issue at 3000 miles when the coil packs/wires/spark plug connectors weren't seated properly and caused misfires.

So I'm getting a little ticked off now...

The injector came in but the orings for the fuel rails did not and will not be in until Monday morning. So at this rate I'll be without a brand new truck for a week and who knows if i'll get it back Monday or not. Also this Acadia is a complete crapbox. No wonder they did not try to resell it. I am going on two road trips with it now this weekend of around 600 miles and you can only imagine how I will feel if this junker breaks down on me then.

I'm not sure if they forgot to order the orings or they just took longer to ship. My service tech said it would be done today (on the phone yesterday) and another tech today called me at 3 pm telling me that it will not be until Monday. You're telling me that he did not know that any earlier in the day? I asked the tech if I was going to get any perks for this BS and he told me that the dealership cannot do anything for me, but to call gm customer care. I am hoping one of the agents on this site steps in here so I can start the process through them rather than all over the phone because god knows it takes forever to talk to someone at gm customer care.

Wish me luck

Mike

  • 4 weeks later...

One of my 2014 work trucks is sitting at 97,000 and no issues yet other than the "shake" which was fixed by the dealer. Other than a stone chip and a sandblasted front window, it still looks and drives like new. It has spent almost everyday since purchased working, no trailers but it still has 800-1000lbs in the bed at all times. It even has the original brakes in it with no issues. Only thing I've replaced on it was 2 air filters and a set of tires.
