2014 Sierra Regular Cab Lowering kit help!!

Recommended Posts

I have a beautiful 2014 Sierra SLE regular cab, its in Sonama Red Metallic. It has the 20" wheels. The Truck is really tall from the rear, more then ive seen any stock truck. I was going to lower the truck anyways, but its just a matter of which kit. I dont want too low, im looking at the McGaughtys 2/4 drop, and im getting the GM 22" Black 5-spoke wheels on as well. Has anyone installed that kit, are their any problems with that kit? Pictures would help.

Danny,

I have the same truck in Silver and have been doing research on drop kits and install for at least 6+ months. The kit you are looking at will consist of a rear flip kit and a spring hanger to bring it to the 4" mark. The front will consist of shock rings to drop the spring on the shock assembly. When the McGaughys flip kit was first offered for the 2014, they were using the old 07-13 part and, from what I understand, were having trouble due to it not moving the axle back enough, causing a possible bind at the transmission. Some even had to shorten their driveshafts when using the flip kit set at a lower drop. As far as I know McGaughys has fixed this and is now offering a 2014 version of this kit that will not cause this issue. Some guys are running into trouble with pinion angle with any brand of flip kit but this seems to be on a case by case basis.

As far as the front goes, there are no issues with the strut spacer set up and this same setup has been used for some time with much success.

Also be mindful that if you are looking to level the truck out, you will probably need to look for closed to a 5" drop in the rear. And at the 5" mark, shock would be recommended as the factory shock will bottom out pretty quick on bumps.

Good luck and hope this was of some help. Also keep digging around on the forums as there is more information out there. User BigSapper (i think) on this forum installed a belltech drop kit and ran into some issues but I think he may have gotten on of their first kits.

Just did the 3 inch drop from them. Truck looks sick. I have a reg cab truck to and I am more than happy with the results. Not too low but the jacked up rear is no more. Figured at this height I hopefully won't have any issue towing small loads
