I ordered a Moroso catch can yesterday from Summit Racing and should have it today.

Perks of living in MI, Summit is in OH, and free ground shipping to us usually means next day shipping.

I plan on installing it tonight if it does in fact arrive today.

It looks like this, but with a different bracket.

I've also inquired about walnut blasting my intake ports and valves to clean up the sludge. Hopefully the shop gets back to me soon.

Nice. It stinks living 5 mins from Summit racing here in OH... I go there about every 3-4 weeks to check out the scratch and dent stuff.

I'd be in huge trouble if I lived that close.

Catch can is installed. Very simple and pretty clean.

I painted the bracket satin black to look a little more OE.

I reused the OE quick connect fittings at the engine which made the instal even easier. I did have to cut them out of the old hose, but I'm not reusing it, so it's no big deal to me.

I mounted the bracket behind the 10mm windshield washer fluid fill neck.

Spent a little extra on more 3/8" hose and some better hose clamps. All in all it was a lot cheaper than the RX or Elite Engineering catch cans. I wasn't spending $300+ on one of those. This was $140+ the extra hose and clamps.

I will monitor and report my findings.

Well in the last few months I've had 2 significant issues with my truck.

The first, AC went out and wouldn't keep R-134a in the system. I eventually figured out it was a bad condenser by using UV dye. I ordered the parts from GM and bought a set of manifold gauges from Horror Fright. My father-in-law had a vacuum pump I could use, so that saved me $100.

I also could not find what viscosity PAG oil I needed, so I used 100(medium). I put in 2oz, as that's what I found on the forums as the quantity needed when doing a condenser replacement.

The condenser replacement and recharge process took a total of ~4hrs or so. Was really easy with some electric impacts.

Still working great after about 8 weeks or so.

Max AC outlet temp:

So glad to have AC working this summer as its been hotter than normal here. The AC is colder now than it was when I bought the truck.

On to the second issue... blew the trans cooler line off the condenser during a huge downpour. Lost a lot of trans fluid, enough so that the truck had to be towed home.

I may have had a hand in this, as the new condenser came with new fittings, but because I was a moron and didn't understand how the fittings work, I reused the old ones as they were already on the lines.

Don't do what I did. Knowing how stupid simple the fittings are now, I'll never look over that detail again.

Dropped the pan, cleaned it out, replaced the filter, and re-filled with 6qts of fluid. Everything seems ok after about 300 miles.

I bit the bullet and bought the RC 70625 single row LED bar kit for my truck.

Installed it on Friday in the dark, simple and straightforward. Wiring is not done as I can't decide where I want to bring the wires into the cab at.

Yes, it's more expensive than just mounting a bar, but it's clean. I like clean looking additions to the truck.

I suck at keeping this thing updated...

I've been extremely busy with longer hours at work, promotion without a promotion kind of situation and I bought a house. So now I'm broke and have not time for much lol.

I think I'm going to piece together a 2-2.5" lift in the spring.

I put on some BFG KO2's because my DuraSmac's were cupped out and louder than all hell.

I like the KO2's but they are heavy! About 7-8lbs per corner over the GY's.

Oh and before all that stuff, actually went on a vacation for the first time in years. Went to Canada to do some Walleye fishing for 7 days.

Been very busy, but maybe I'll keep up with this thing after things settle down.

Back from the dead...

Lots of things happening in my life and the truck/forum took a major back seat.

I’m dealing with some health issues at the moment, that seem to be under control(for the most part) now.

I’ve spent much of my focus on my race car and my house, but I did also pick up a trailer and sort out my trailer brake control issues in he truck. Bypassed the factory controller and installed a Tekonsha P3.

So much work went into the car this year, so truck work was very little and with the possibility of starting a family coming up, I’ve been focusing on that.

I did end up putting another set of front brakes and a full set of K02’s on the truck recently.

I am planning on adding a set of Bilstein 5100’s and a slight lift/level to the truck in the spring.

I am also going to delete the Corsa muffler to see how the truck sounds for a while. I love the Corsa system, it really is perfect, but I am bored and want so noise for a little bit, until the old man in my brain says “turn that shit off” lol.

Anyway, I am alive, and this update was long overdue.

The truck turned over the century mark and I missed it.

It also snapped an endlink... popped the bolt in two after hitting a pothole.

New endlinks from Detroit Axle are on the way along with Bilstein 55100’s and some parts to give it a bit more lift.

It’s been a rough start to the year. Lots of family health issues.

Good to hear from you again.  Your truck is still looking good.  Congrats on the century mark.

And I missed your Canada fishing trip.  Where in Canada do you go?  I've been to Longlac Ontario.  It is freaking awesome up there.

I've since traded (it was a lease)  my 15 for an 18 CCSB LTZ Z71 Redline with a 6.2.  It left the dealership with a 2 1/2 RC level and 275/60 20 Hankook Dynapro ATM's.  I have a Diablo i3 to basically get rid of the top speed governor.

Thanks! It’s been dirty as hell this winter and since moving out to the country it’s paint isn’t looking so hot.

We were up at O’Sullivan’s lake north of Longlac. We were up for a week and had a blast. We didn’t end up going in 2017 and probably won’t this year either. Family is really busy this year.

Congrats on the ‘18. How’s the 6.2?

I’m considering a new truck in 2020. Maybe the new 3.0L in-line 6 diesel, or the 6.2.

I don't want to start another 6.2 vs 5.3 20 page argument but the 6.2 and the 8 speed are awesome.  It feels like a lot more than 65 hp and torque. Not so much that it's faster, but feels easier or less cumbersome to drive, like the truck is a lot lighter.

As far as Canada goes, it is awesome up around there.  Me and my brother and some friends go up there quite a bit.  We see maybe three or four other boats fishing up there the whole week we are there.

Finally got my Bilstein 5100’s and little lift installed. Really happy with how it turned out. The 5100’s are a ton better than the Rancho branded OE shocks that were rustier than all get out.

Looks really good to me and rides great!
