After cranking the t-bars up, I now have .25" of space between the upper arm and the upper metal bumpstop. I was wondering if anyone here has ever modified it? I thought about cutting it off and rewelding it about an 1" lower, or cutting the sides of it and bending it down an inch. Thanks, Chris Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Chris97K1500 Posted March 8, 2003 Author Share Posted March 8, 2003 This morning I took out the Dremel and cutting discs and slit one side of the metal bumpstop. Took a BFH and pounded it over and down so that it would slip over the cut. I gained about 1" more downtravel. It totally changed the ride of the truck, like it was before cranking the bars. I could tell where the upper arm was bottoming out on the bumpstop, now it looks as though I won't be having that problem. Chris Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Chris97K1500 Posted March 22, 2003 Author Share Posted March 22, 2003 I didn't overextend the shock extension limit. They are the limiting factor as to how far I'd move the bumpstops. I definately wouldn't allow for more travel than the shocks are rated for. I only have 17.5" of extension from the bumpstops, the shocks go 18". I still hit the bumpstop when driving on the farm hitting holes, so far no problems. I've done this before on other trucks and they have over 100K miles on them since I originally did this with no problems. I'm sure it wouldn't be good for them if I continuously drove around with it fully extended. But for as much offroading as this truck will see, I'm not worried.
