2015 GMC 2500HD CrewCab Duramax Vibration...

Recommended Posts

Just traded my 2012 Duramax Denali HD for a 2015. I've had the truck for 2 weeks and it has 1300 miles on it. My 2012 rode like glass on the highway at all speeds, I loved it. My 2015 has a pretty bad vibration beginning at 65 mph and up. I had my family in it yesterday and they wanted out!

It's been to the dealership twice and it's still the same. I'm thinking maybe I have a bad tire or rim....then I read this this thread! - it's scheduled to go back to the dealership on Tuesday.

I love the truck otherwise and the dealership's owner is a good friend - just wondering how it's going to be handled.

Goood luck man ... i bought my 15.5 dmax in jan havent had nothing but problems especially the vibration truck has been in shop 21 times with almost 2500 miles that are on the truck are from the dealer trying to figure out the vibration problem. Replaced tires replaced rims balanced tires balacned drive shaft just got it back from another gm dealer 9/3 that replaced the ring and pinion and still not fixed now i get truck back and my speedo is off by 11 mph. With the brakes constantly squeeking which they cant figure out saying they are waiting for a recall on brake componets and ill have to wait. Its embarrassing pulling up in a 64k truck and brakes are non stop squeeking This duramax is the biggest mistake ive ever made. More of a headache then anything while gm sits back and takes there time. Gm is coming out to "deeem" it unsafe next week. Now deem it unsafe is a little far fetched if u ask me but deeming it unrealiable and because of the headaches of a knew vehicle they should buy it back. NEVER WILL I BUY A GM AGAIN!!

I felt the same way about my 2013 1500, same way, not the same reasons. I invented new swear words about it. I am a much happier customer with my 2015 2500HD 6.0L Double. Hope you can get things ironed out.

I just bought a GMC 2500HD CrewCab Longbed Duramax with the same issue. It is at the dealer now for the 3rd time. They took one tire off and put it on the rim differently and roadforce balanced the two rear tires the first time. Second time they did the same to the front and except they replace one of them. The third time they replaced all four tires and still have the problem, they still have the truck. I do not fault the dealership. The way they treated us is one reason why we bought the GMC in the first place.

I also bought the GMC for the ride in comparison to the Ford or Dodge. I bought a new truck for the reliability. Now I have neither. I just want GMC to make it right because I need the truck. I do not have time for them to be experimenting on my truck to figure out a known issue like this. What is GMC going to do to make this right?

I just took the SRA's off my 2013 Denali HD and installed the new Michelin Defender LTX M/S. Much smoother ride, not as crisp steering response probably due to the more open tread design, but very smooth and quiet. I still have some of the vibration at 72 mph that I had with the SRA's but No where near as much. We eventually stopped rotating the SRA's because when two of them were on the front, the steering vibrated and the truck shook when braking. When those two wheels were on the rear, hardly noticed it. I don't know what the issue is with tire balance, but it seems that every time I get new tires, we have to balance 2 or 3 times to get it right. Didn't know about rfb so gonna have them do that. For anyone looking to replace their SRA's, I think you will be happy with the LTX M/S but they do feel somewhat softer, if that makes sense.

I had my SRA tires re-balanced to get the clamp-on weights removed from the 20s and used stick-on weights instead. They guy asked how I liked them and I told them they'd be the last Goodyears on the truck as long as I have it. Seems Goodyear has trouble making a quality truck tire anymore. Many can't stay balance and are out-of-round from the factory. I had a truck with Wrangler AT/S and had to have them re-balanced every 5000 miles to to stay relatively smooth.

Michelins are my first choice for replacement tires.

Oh man!!! same vibration issue for me 2015HD GMC Denali. High frequency vibration starts in at 62mph and gets worse the faster you go. Pax seat rattles, kids in the back sound as if they are riding in a helicopter when they talk. Wife will not ride in it at night, she says the vibration makes all the digital dash stuff blurry.

The first time I took it to the dealer, less that 200 miles, they said to wait until it has about 1500 miles as the tires were probably out of round from being on the transport (they really told me that)

Been through the "tires out of balance" response but the 3 times it was scheduled their machine wasn't working.

Finally got the shop forman to go for a ride........ he noticed mirrors shaking, water bottles in cup holders vibrating, kids in the back sounding like helocopter pilots. It even causes the rearview mirror to move out of place on longer drives down the highway!!!

Dealer installed new driveshaft - NO change!

I did put a 2 inch level lift, bilstein shocks (all 4) and nitto G2's with custom wheels...... this improved the problem a little (better suspension and bigger tires to absord the vibration) but its still there. The dealership has been great EXCEPT they can't fix it.

We went through the "its the aftermarket tires and wheels" scenario until I gave them the balance sheet and allignment details from 4 Wheels Parts- Those guys are great!!!!

Again the dealership has been great about it. On one of my visits (putting the truck in for vibration issues again) I noticed they had a new 2015HD (same as mine/different color) they lifted with tires and wheels...... mentioned to the GM/GSM and sales guy that since they can't fix mine they should just give me that one. 10, yes ten days later nothing had been done to my truck!!!!! I took the loaner back (1/2 ton 2wd) picked up my truck as I had lots to do around my property and voiced my lack of satisfaction. Later that day the GM called said come get the our new lifted HD you like and I'll make it right. WOW!!!!!

Sorry this is long but here is the short finish.......... I went back to the dealer that evening grabbed their lifted truck and drove off HAPPY!!!!!!! Wait for it, wait........ IT HAS THE SAME ISSUE!!!!!!(bummer) gets worse though. The same GM maybe he's the GSM offered to put me in anything they had, he even went for a ride in my truck to feel the vibration. He agreed there was an issue. Went to the front line grabbed another brand spanking new HD denali right off the front line and we test drove it together too!!!! SAME DAMN ISSUE!!!!!! Dealership has been great EXCEPT they can't fix the problem.

I know I went on and on but now what? I've been waiting on the dealer for 2 months now. I've had my truck for coming up on 6 months it has 6200 miles on it, half my normal miles because I can't stand the ride.

Break down as per me - All 3 2015HD Denali's I have driven had the vibration issues as described on this forum.

Mine - had the issue pre lift/shock/and tire upgrade. Seemed better after the mods but still not acceptable.

Dealer lifted truck same vibration issue

Dealer stock truck was the worst of them all.

Of the 2 lifted trucks.........

I prefer the Nitto G2's over the toyo's (better ride and much quieter)

The 2 inch level lift with bilsteins is a far more superior ride than the 4 inch rancho lift.

When I bought my 2015 Denali, I test drove 3 other ones, identical except for color, oh and one was a 6.0 gas. Every one of them had the same issue, to greater or lesser degrees. The salesman riding along with me agreed. The fourth one (the one I bought) was the only one that didn't vibrate, or is so subtle that I can't tell. There's definitely some design problems going on. It's not just the 2015's either. I had a 2015 GMC 2500HD Duramax, and it vibrated as bad if not worse than these others.

It's weird how these vibrations aren't showing up on test drives

I specifically took a highway route, and then circled back to do it again. Didn't show up in that test drive even though I was specifically looking for it.

Either way, the truck was checked in this morning with 600 miles on it. We'll see what happens next.

After 2 visits to my dealerships service department they've told me they found something in the rear end housing that is bent. The part came in this week I just dropped it off to get the whole rear end housing replaced. I'm hoping this fixes my vibration.

Curious - did the rear end housing replacement resolve your vibration issues?

I have a 2015 2500 HD Crew cab that I purchased at the end of July. Since then I have been back to the dealerships 3 times (2 different dealers) to have this vibration problem fixed. I have been told the first time the tires where out of balance. Drove it away and problem still exist. The second time (after I called GM customer service and got them involved) they replaced the tires, drive shaft and road force balancing. Problem was worse. After taking it back today 11/30/2015 they test drove it and proceeded to tell me that this was the characteristics of these trucks. Yes that's exactly what the service manager told me. I proceeded to let them know that I did not spend $68,000 to beat my kidneys out. They agreed to keep the truck once again and see what they can come up with.

You would think when someone spends this kind of money on a new vehicle the factory and or dealership would go out of there way to fix it. Or at least tell you up front that they have no idea what they are doing. I have always owned GM products about 8 over the last 20 years, and I have to say the Quality has gone down hill drastically. I would never drive a ford, however it is be considered at this point.

Is there anyone out there that has had this problem resolved?

Bought my 15.5 dmax crew ltz z71 last dec been in 2 different chevy dealers for same vibration issues after numerous tires, tire balancing, driveshaft balancing ,ring and pinion, complete rear axel . Still the same issues there is no resolution yet for this problem. Dealership had my truck for a total of 125 days for this issue they just gave a "good willed" of 2 payments from the truck being in the dealer and 250$ accessories. Im just glad to have my truck back period. Gm dont give a shit about customer satisfaction. We woll have to just wait and see what they come up qith for a recall on this issue. Even though they should compensate for the days i dont have it automatically buttt they didn't . should have waited till 2017 and seen what the new plateform is all about. Good luck to all us dummies who bought these pos trucks
